He should be able to beat out DaQuan Jones, what a waste of a roster space he is.

From everything I read, Ogunjobi looked poor in camp and preseason.  I don't expect much of anything out of him.

It could be challenging for Hairston to be game-ready before Week 8 or 9.

He never played in pads, missed a ton of instruction, and until Week 10, it would be unfair to expect Hairston to do much more than a few garbage-time snaps.

Barring a slew of more injuries, it's possible that Hairston won't get a good number of snaps until the end of the season.

They want to put Max in a position to succeed.  Right after bye week, or perhaps even KC game, is my guess for Max return.  That will get him time to rehab knee, get in top shape, memorize playbook, get calloused up, and to reduce pressure.  Then shorten season, and hope to have Max through the Super Bowl

He put Beane in a bind.  Beane knew about Hoesht, but Ojunjobi was a surprise. First 2 DL FA Bills signings test positive, not a good look.  So if after all that, if Ojunjobi didn’t bring his A game, I don’t blame Beane if cuts him.  We already need a roster spot for Hoescht

I still can’t believe Beane honored the signing after Ogunjobi and his agent intentionally withheld info about his suspension.  I’d have said “see ya” but I guess it shows you how concerned Beane is about the interior of the D.

Hoecht and Hairston will definitely help this D. We need our LB's to be tougher and our safeties... well, we all know that story. But all in all our D will only improve as the season moves on.

Honestly… there’s no speed on the edge. Bills don’t have a lot of speed on defense as it is. Daquan Jones is overrated. Bosa ain’t Bosa of 2018. Ed Oliver is a stud.

they will once again have a middle of the road defense and you’ll see there will be multiple games where it will be up to the offense to win it.

They will be better at years end, more of the bend don’t break style. But this defense isn’t anything special. I see the DLine having the ability to collapse the pocket which will affect some younger QBs, but the Pro Bowl style QBs will give us trouble. Hence, the Offense will need to pull is through.

I hope we can get something from Bosa, but I trust Solomon and eventually Jackson will be good and fast. I also think Hoect (sp?) will be an animal.

Not expecting a ton from Ogunjobi.   Hoping Walker & Sanders have enough reps down to relegate him to reserve/inactive or DT5 if needed on Gameday.

Hoecht is legit.  Really good player who makes the DE rotation a real strength if we can keep Bosa healthy.

Hairston is a wild card, but they’ve got to find a way to get him on the field and get the reps needed to be a factor for the playoffs.  Having his speed opposite Benford is huge for this Defense and what they’ll want to be able to do with pressure packages.

They will need Hairston. I have a bad feeling the Chiefs are going to make a play for Tyreek.

Try Tre White or D strong at safety. Move the pieces and see what works. Our current safeties are Tble!!! D has to play with an attitude and not be afraid to lay the boom!!!!! But remember we put a Forty nut on a supposedly top 5 defense. Go into every game with a sense of urgency, and no D will be able to stop. Fire up the A-Gun!!!!!

Hairston and Hoecht should help this defense I also think Larry O is a possible nice add. I think this team will make a defensive addition at the trade deadline. Safety or LB maybe even DT. But I think there will be an addition.

Watch him on those long henry runs, he gets obliterated at the LOS, He is completely washed and a liability. Oh and on the long Lamar run that Bosa/Rousseau wiffed on, he was just loligagging out of position.

For sure, how could a guy that’s played football his whole life and was only a first round pick be expected to know how to play football?

Just throwing random guys at safety is absolutely, positively a terrible idea. That’s the toughest offense they will play this season, give these guys a chance

Why do you think any of those guys will be anything?  I like Solomon, but he’s done exactly nothing thus far, Jackson is only on the roster bc you can’t cut a 3rd round pick, but he’s practice squad right now.  Hoect is a nobody who Beane is hoping is more than he’s ever been.

Hairston will have to beat out Strong and or Tre.

Babich needs to know we aren't beating KC without Bosa unless Solomon really emerges, he needs to keep the old timer healthy and cant be using him on all three downs.  His body just doesn't hold up to that kind of beating.

Epenesa is invisible at this point, and we all know what happens if Pat gets to sit back there for 5 seconds.

I'm just as concerned about our LB's.  Rough 1st outing for both Bernard and Milano.

Week one is a liar? giphy.gif

But they'll have both Rice and Worthy back by week 7 (Worthy sounds like he might not miss much time at all), so why would they take back a known cancer who would cost them compensation, just to cause a logjam of egos and targets? They still have Hollywood Brown and Juju and probably someone else with pedigree who has underperformed.

Wait a minute!? Are you suggesting Larry Ogunjobi, who is currently suspended until week 7, was not hustling out there in week 1? You're dang right. He wasn't even in uniform!!! WTF

If you don’t believe me, Joe Marino is saying the same thing.

It’s not hard to understand when you give it just a little thought. By your logic anyone who plays football at a high level should be able to take field without the rigors of training camp, and daily practices for weeks on end. That doesn’t  happen very often. Mid season trades, rookies and new preseason players take time to understand what’s going on.

Beane and Co get criticism for bringing in players they know, but those players also know the system the Bills run, they know the player and know what they can ask of them. That’s a big deal.

Rasuel Douglas said he was lost after the trade and didn’t really understand the system until the next season. And Douglas was a seasoned vet, not a rookie who missed most of the preseason and never took a snap in a game.

Now you think the Rookie can just go out there and be expected to be in game shape and understand the defense? In fact, it could take a long time for Hairston to get up to speed.

So yeah, I'm skeptical that Max can be an effective contributor until he's had time to get into game shape and have enough practices to feel comfortable in the scheme.

Yes and also the three rookie lineman by December won't exactly be rookies.  I think need to put this game in perspective that they probably just played one of the top 3 teams in the league excluding themselves on both sides of the ball.  Lets see how they look the next two weeks before giving up on them.

I also think too the Ravens are better in early season that in playoffs as by then both Henry and Jackson are a bit beat up and worn down.

Funny too how many things in the media talked about how this game likely means if they meet in the playoffs, the game will be in Buffalo.  But yet last year, the Ravens beat the Bills in the regular season, but the playoff game still ended up in Buffalo.

I have to keep reminding myself that we just played, the most dynamic offense in the league...Between the legs of Henry and the dual threat Lamar, that's a hard game plan...

I’m hoping Hancock ends up being a surprise at Safety for us. I agree we need an upgrade.

I'm really hoping he puts his signature on this defense.

ANyone else have the sinking feeling that Beane used a lot of draft capital on Defense ... and we'll having nothing to show for it?

I feel exactly the opposite.

Going into week one, I thought we'd lose to Baltimore because of all the new parts but I expect that with the addition of 6 defensive rookies (don't forget Dorian Strong) and 7 veteran free agents that the defense will gel and be a strong unit by season's end.

I believe the team will receive a good return on their heavy investments.
