K-9 Posted Tuesday at 01:22 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:22 PM I worry about a let down after such an emotional comeback win and going to a place that has given us fits in the past. And the Jest offense looked pretty good on Sunday, so I hope we solve our run fit issues. Plus, divisional games between opponents who know each other so well adds an element as well. Nice to know we shredded an Aaron Glenn defense the last time we faced it. 1 Quote
RochesterLifer Posted Tuesday at 01:28 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:28 PM (edited) Honestly, I think this is one of those games where Trubisky mops up the fourth quarter. After the multiple coronaries I had Sunday night, I envision bourbon, popcorn, and relaxed smiles. J-E-T-S, sux, sux, sux. Edited Tuesday at 01:28 PM by RochesterLifer Quote
Johnnycage46 Posted Tuesday at 01:30 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:30 PM I would like to think that the defense will play better after watching they watch the tape of the Ravens game. Generally speaking, when we've had poor performances, we'll usually improved for the next game. Also, while Hall is a very good back, he's not Henry (i.e. a freak who is the size of a DT, but has the speed of a WR). 1 Quote

Early game time planning and schemes. We looked lost on offense and defense, tripping over ourselves. This needs to be cleaned up, especially considering just a few seasons ago we were the best first half team in the league. The Jets have a quality unit on both sides of the ball but a young up and coming coach (supposedly). This could be a good week to out coach a new guy. Our secondary play against the Ravens was not consistent, up to its potential, or even good. We can excuse that, for now, because the Ravens have one of the best offenses in football. Bonus 4th because it's not a get right situation but a consistency issue Our edge got better to set against the Ravens and our pass rush made a difference. Let's see that continue. I will try to make this Get Right List a weekly thing. 5 2 Quote

These are the most important games on the schedule as far as taking control of the division. The Bills know they will be in for a tough game if recent history at MetLife is any indication. They may lose but I don't think they will have a letdown. Truth is the Bills could be in great shape with wins over the Jets on Sunday and 4 days later a win over the Fish on TNF. Big back-to-back divisional rivalry games coming up over a 4-day period. 1 Quote
Chandler#81 Posted Tuesday at 01:39 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:39 PM Josh Palmer mic’d up during Ravens game. Thrilled we signed him. He’s a FIT! 4 7 3 Quote

Truth is, the Ravens were whooping the Bill's for 3qtrs, though. Coaches and players are in the lab cooking up ways to fix what they know are problems. I think the Bills win big for a change. The Jets may have a competent new coach, but he's still new and they are going to have some growing pains. Agree - there's nothing about the win that should make the players overconfident and full of themselves and complacent. If anything it's a wakeup call they still have a lot of work to do and things to fix. To me way too early to assess Glenn as HC. One thing - it did look to me in wk 1 like Jets were trying to be 'tough guys'. More worried about cheap shots and chippiness than actually losing to this team. I believe if it was possible to measure a team's motivation that you would find the Jets have a higher level, after all (cliche incoming) this is like their Super Bowl whereas for the Bills, the Jets represent a team they're trying to avoid a letdown against. Good teams most often have enough motivation to avoid being upset... but not always. 1 Quote

They don’t have the Secondary of the Ravens, but do have a pass rush. That said.. I think Buffalo’s Defense was thoroughly embarrassed by that Ravens game and will be looking to right some wrongs against Baltimore-lite in the Jets. 1 Quote

I expect...and am not to worried about...some growing pains. The Bills did not get an entirely new coaching staff, so not an entire re-vamp. However, they did add several new coaches which suggests there is a change in philosophy. Despite the poor play, we saw some of that on Sunday. There was a play when Bills showed cover zero...but backed out. There was a Rousseau knocked down pass when he was standing at the line because it was a zone blitz. Their defense is more creative but they're still learning how to do it. They are doing so with a number of rookies playing and a second year safety. I think the Bishop blitz from 20 yards away was a sign of some of that confusion. He was bluffing playing 2 high but the Ravens snapped quickly and he was caught out of position. They are learning...but may take the entire regular season to learn and the offense will need to carry them. Think about how bad the Chiefs D was while they were learning Spags D in the regular season...and then was great in the playoffs. That's what I'm hoping. Also, I think what this style of D needs is a speed corner who can stick with a receiver in man and a swiss army knife edge rusher who they can move around. They drafted one (Max Hairston) and signed the other (Hoicht) but neither are playing. Edited Tuesday at 02:06 PM by fergie's ire 5 1 Quote
stlbills13 Posted Tuesday at 02:06 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:06 PM There are some similarities between the two teams but I also think it's overblown. Nobody else in the NFL is Derrick Henry in terms of his size, speed, and ability. He forces defenses to do different things even more so than Lamar does. The key is to get ahead early and make Fields throw the ball. If you do that, this one will be over early. 1 1 Quote

BuffaloBillyG Posted Tuesday at 02:47 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:47 PM Like many are pointing out, the Jets and Ravens have a lot of similar traits. The two big thing that stand out for me is that Hall is no DH and Fields is no Lamar. Facing the Ravens was a really nice opportunity to remember how to play teams build like this. Things like setting the edge, gap integrity ECT... Jets are like the Great Value brand of Raven football. I expect the Bills defense...who actually played well late in the Ravens game, to be fine tuned and ready to easily shut down the Jet offense. And while Allen does seem to get bottled up by the Jet defense...we all saw his stats against the Ravens in last year's. Yet he went off for almost 400 passing yards and is likely to win OPOW honors. I see him having some success against the Jet defense. But now that defense doesn't have CJ Mosley. No DJ Reed. Heck they gave up 4 TD passes to Aaron Rodgers and he's 127 years old. Josh should eat well Sunday. 3 Quote
Don Otreply Posted Tuesday at 02:48 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:48 PM This is an in division game, they are always a hard game, and as usual we have the target on our backs, every team wants the bragging rights that a win vs us brings, Our boys gotta be bringing it for every one of these games! GO BILLS!!! 2 Quote

Miyagi-Do Karate Posted Tuesday at 02:49 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:49 PM We have to be smart about this game. Every time we go to NYJ, it’s the same thing. If we take care of the football, run well, play pretty good defense and ST, we can win comfortably. I would prefer a very conservative game plan. Take points when you can get them, etc. 2 1 Quote

Didn't Dawkins get into a shouting match with them after the game in the runway when the game was over in OP a few years ago. Edited Tuesday at 02:51 PM by Gregg Quote
Buffalo4Life01 Posted Tuesday at 02:57 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:57 PM CJ Mosley is a guy on that defense who always seemed to give Buffalo fits. They still have an above average defense for sure, one capable of having big games, but Mosely retiring sure does make me feel a lot better about playing them this season. Go Bills!! Quote
