I acknowledge that dink-and-dunk is appropriate in some circumstances. Brady did a lot of dink-and-dunk in his time. But nearly half of the passes behind the LOS sounds like the stat line of a rookie QB who hasn't earned the confidence of his coach. Josh is a future HOFer, the reigning MVP, and probably Buffalo's best QB ever. You've got to let him air it out sometimes. I may be wrong but it looked to me like McD put a governor on Brady and the Bills offense in order to protect his defense. In the first half they wasted back to back possessions with very conservative play calling. It wasn't until the end of the half when the O was unleashed and Allen hit two big passes to set up the FG. In the 4th quarter the Bills had no choice but to turn Allen & the O lose and it showed. 1 1 Quote
Fleezoid Posted September 8 Posted September 8 (edited) 2 game balls: Josh of course and Ed Oliver. I'll give a deflated ball to Keon. He had a couple of nice catches, but a couple of miss steps (one, literally). Edited September 8 by Fleezoid 1 Quote

Josh, Cook and Shakir get automatic game balls and I pick three O, three D, and let you have at it. Without further ado, this week's GAME BALLS: Matt Prater - Ice water in his veins, he calmly kicked the GWFG as time expired. Ironically, the bills would have won the game in real time if McD had just allowed him to kick XP's every time. Joshua Palmer - Big catches down the stretch led directly to the comeback. Keon Coleman - Shook off the error on the two-point conversion to comeback and make clutch catches on the final drive. Jackson Hawes - Sometimes you get a game ball for a single play. Nice catch to take it down to the one yard line to get us within a score. Ed Oliver - One of the few to show up on defense tonight. Had the forced fumble that turned the game around. WHO YA GOT? Yes, that was dumb taking the pt off the board failing on 2 pt attempt and then having to chase those points the rest of the game. Doesn’t McD have one of those cards with when to go for two? You had made it a 7 pt game. What would you gain by making it 6? You don’t go for two there. Little of a momentum killer after you scored the TD. 1 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Game Balls: Allen Keon Coleman was the WR we hoped we drafted last year Dalton Kincaid Jackson Hawes(how bout that for the blocking TE) Ed Oliver Dorian Strong was solid for a rookie 6th rounder thrown into the grinder Thats about it for me 3 Quote

He's going to get some flack for losing a couple reps downfield but I thought he was arguably the second most effective defender on the field. 2 2 Quote

He was the first one to force a fumble and he was putting pressure on Lamar all night. Took three quarters for Bosa to remember to set the edge. He looks like a guy who hasn’t played in a while. 1 1 Quote

Max Fischer Posted September 8 Posted September 8 OL pass blocked pretty well, Josh had time. Joe Brady adjusted well in second half. D didn’t quit. Played well late. 1 1 Quote

The matchups were bad. So it seemed obvious that if we were going to win, it would be in a shootout. Josh had to be unleashed. 2 Quote

I'm not saying it isn't on him but there were a lot of runs I'm not sure exactly who's fault it is. I definitely saw him crashing down the line and guys run outside and that may have been his fault but I don't know that yet. I do know he single-handedly stopped one drive with two huge stops in 3 plays and he forced a fumble on another drive and aside from him and Ed there was not a soul making any plays on defense. 10 minutes ago, GoBills808 said: Bosa for me I think But that might be due to expectations...I always expect a lot out of Benford. Lol like I get we want to be mad at the coaches all the time but some of these short throws were the right reads and the ravens just tackled their asses off. Josh definitely checked into that 3rd and short hurry up run in the first half too. ravens dbs definitely ran out of steam from flying all over the field the rest of the night which opened up a lot down the field as the game went on. reminded me a lot of the pats-falcons Super Bowl in that way Edited September 8 by Generic_Bills_Fan 1 1 Quote

Magox Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Many game balls for this one. Josh Allen - Best player in the NFL Offensive line - Did a great job pass blocking, I think early on Josh felt that he needed to get the ball out quickly because he thought that he needed to. But once he realized that he actually had more time to throw the ball then he initially thought he didn't just have to dink the ball behind the LOS like he was. Keon Coleman - He's a baller, if it wasn't for his injury last year he would have had a much better year. He doesn't need the separation that other receivers needs, he just need to continue working his craft, stay healthy and the numbers and impact will be there. The Tight ends - All three of them did well blocking and making their impact felt catching the ball at important times and areas in the field. Could end up becoming the best Tight end room in the NFL Ed Oliver - He was simply unreal. 7 tackles, 3 TFL, A sack, a few pressures (including the last third down the Ravens offense had in the game) and of course the huge PLAY MAKING caused fumble on King Henry. That's why he was worth every bit of that $17M a year contract. Bosa - Yeah, he was getting fooled early on those Lamar option runs and he didn't have any real numbers but he made his presence felt on a couple drives that contributed to the Ravens having stalled drives. If he stays healthy he's going to be a really good addition. Prater - He came through like a true professional. I don't know why but I felt more at ease with him kicking the ball than when Bass kicks. Joe Brady - Keeping the offense humming. 2 1 1 Quote
corta765 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 All the Bills fans who STAYED at the stadium the WHOLE game OR those who didn't turn off the TV. With Josh anything is possible, final opening night game, and the game was never fully out of reach even if it was small % chance. If you stayed through you got to see magic you dream of as a fan. 1 Quote
