estro613 Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Fast forward to about 20 minutes mark to hear Tyler on Caleb and the Bears Caleb is an absolute disaster. I already was super low on Caleb, but after hearing some of this stuff......wow. Quote
FireChans Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Do people still care what this guy types on Cheetos dust keyboard? finn Posted September 6 Posted September 6 What a yapper. All that air time and says nothing that couldn't be said in three sentences. So many of these commentators talk while they're still figuring out what to say. Why not pause, gather your thoughts, and speak concisely and clearly? It's like they're being paid by the word. 1 1 1 Quote

4merper4mer Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Usually QBs that cry to their mommy don’t do very well, but if Dunne says he will fail……then maybe he will succeed. 1 5 1 Quote

T master Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I don't know what it is but a lot of the QB's that were very successful at USC that have made it to the NFL fall on their face which in a lot of ways doesn't really surprise me . There has really only been a couple that have had good to decent careers but most are no better than a back up QB or practice squad . Carson Palmer is probably the best to come out of there in the last 20 years unless you can tell me any others . I know we had Matt Barkley for a while which was decent but wound up as most being a good back up but the liftoff those that were a bust coming out of USC is much longer than those that have had success in the NFL . 4 Quote
strive_for_five_guy Posted September 6 Posted September 6 This wasn’t even that juicy. Essentially Poles was all about Caleb pre-draft without really considering any of the other QBs. And the Bears pandered to Caleb throughout the whole process and his first season. Now Ben Johnson finally seems to be taking control of it all. 1 Quote
ProcessTruster Posted September 6 Posted September 6 (edited) IMO, if Ben Johnson can make Jared Goff good, he can make Caleb really good... ... and yes, I'm glad you asked.. my fantasy team does depend on this ..:) Edited September 6 by ProcessTruster 1 5 Quote
Coach Tuesday Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I would encourage anyone who is interested to actually read Dunne’s longform piece in its entirety. He details his extensive sources. The piece is fascinating. 4 minutes ago, strive_for_five_guy said: This wasn’t even that juicy. Essentially Poles was all about Caleb pre-draft without really considering any of the other QBs. Very juicy to say that Caleb has dyslexia and Poles didn’t tell his coaches. 2 1 Quote

Ty Dunne picks the angle, then finds the sources and writes the article to find the conclusion he planned to find all along. Calling the predraft process where they eventually selected the clear cut #1 QB prospect all year at 1.1 “rigged” tells you all you need to know. It was totally “rigged” when the Jags took Trevor Lawrence too, I bet. Edited September 6 by FireChans 1 1 5 Quote

Quotation marks around journalism as when you think about it, and it really doesn't take much more that a cursory look at his drivel, to understand that it is really not journalism at all. What his work comes off as is some kind of petty, mean spirited spite. Who knows what Caleb did to offend Ty, but this is hardly a surprising look for Dunne. Edited September 6 by cwater10 1 3 Quote

That a young coach gets nervous under pressure? So what? But this piece goes way deeper and many of Dunne’s other longform pieces do too. Attacking the speaker as a quick way to kill the speech (and avoid having to engage with its content - or even read it), is very 2025, I get it, we’re a society of Twitter trolls now, but I’m not signing up for it. 2 minutes ago, TheyCallMeAndy said: Except the parts where he is just wildly speculative. Totally respect you enjoying the content. i find the “I interviewed 30 people who have a million reasons to have bad things to say about X, and guess what? They have bad things to say!” pieces to be worth less than what Dunne’s substack costs. If it was free, maybe I’d get into the nitty gritty with you about it, but claiming that paywalled speech is being “killed” is certainly something lmao. 1 4 2 Quote
H2o Posted September 6 Posted September 6 I knew they should have taken Daniels last year. Still, I think Caleb will better even if he is a queen. If there is anyone on this planet who can coach up the absolute best version of Caleb Williams, it's Ben Johnson who happens to be his head coach. I also think Ben Johnson has a different level of support because of what he did with the Lions. 1 1 Quote
