Fast forward to about 20 minutes mark to hear Tyler on Caleb and the Bears

Caleb is an absolute disaster. I already was super low on Caleb, but after hearing some of this stuff......wow.

Do people still care what this guy types on Cheetos dust keyboard?

Remember his “epic” takedown of McD that resulted in a 6 game win streak and the 2 seed?

An unserious “journalist” whose claim to fame is being on speaking terms with jilted lovers Monos and Whaley

What a yapper. All that air time and says nothing that couldn't be said in three sentences. So many of these commentators talk while they're still figuring out what to say. Why not pause, gather your thoughts, and speak concisely and clearly? It's like they're being paid by the word.

Nothing Dunne said was incorrect

I don't know what it is but a lot of the QB's that were very successful at USC that have made it to the NFL fall on their face which in a lot of ways doesn't really surprise me . There has really only been a couple that have had good to decent careers but most are no better than a back up QB or practice squad .

Carson Palmer is probably the best to come out of there in the last 20 years unless you can tell me any others . I know we had Matt Barkley for a while which was decent but wound up as most being a good back up but the liftoff those that were a bust coming out of USC is much longer than those that have had success in the NFL .

This wasn’t even that juicy.  Essentially Poles was all about Caleb pre-draft without really considering any of the other QBs.  And the Bears pandered to Caleb throughout the whole process and his first season.  Now Ben Johnson finally seems to be taking control of it all.

IMO, if Ben Johnson can make Jared Goff good, he can make Caleb really good...

... and yes, I'm glad you asked.. my fantasy team does depend on this ..:)

I would encourage anyone who is interested to actually read Dunne’s longform piece in its entirety.  He details his extensive sources.  The piece is fascinating.

Very juicy to say that Caleb has dyslexia and Poles didn’t tell his coaches.

Ty Dunne picks the angle, then finds the sources and writes the article to find the conclusion he planned to find all along.

Calling the predraft process where they eventually selected the clear cut #1 QB prospect all year at 1.1 “rigged” tells you all you need to know.

It was totally “rigged” when the Jags took Trevor Lawrence too, I bet.

Agree 100%.  Tyler Dunne is purely axe grinding, agenda driven "journalism".  Quotation marks around journalism as when you think about it, and it really doesn't take much more that a cursory look at his drivel, to understand that it is really not journalism at all.  What his work comes off as is some kind of petty, mean spirited spite.  Who knows what Caleb did to offend Ty, but this is hardly a surprising look for Dunne.

Yeah I totally completely disagree with you.  I thought his hit piece on McD was cheap because what was the big reveal?  That a young coach gets nervous under pressure?  So what?  But this piece goes way deeper and many of Dunne’s other longform pieces do too.

Attacking the speaker as a quick way to kill the speech (and avoid having to engage with its content - or even read it), is very 2025, I get it, we’re a society of Twitter trolls now, but I’m not signing up for it.

Except the parts where he is just wildly speculative.

Please point those out so we can have a discussion about them, Andy.
