Yep,you could tell.  I think I said last year,he kind of acted like Barry Sanders his last year.  You could see it on his face.

Damn... dude signed 1yr/$5M deal ONE WEEK AGO EXACTLY... he has obv been kicking around doing this already. But sounds like he got to camp, looked around, saw a mess in the Raiders and said nahhhhhhh.

Im a Beane maxi, but this feels a little incriminating on that trade last year.  Maybe thats just the way a trade USUALLY works..... anybody think Beane had a chance to speak with Coop before signing off on that deal?  Or is thjat usually a no-go?  Aside from sign-n-trade kinda deals, needing the OK from current team.  Will teams usually OK a chance for a GM to talk to a prospective player?  Or is that generally a no-go?

I was just wondering the same thing. Did Beane have a chance to talk with Cooper before the trade & gauge his attitude?

I didn't get the sense he was putting in low effort in games, but maybe he wasn't fully into everything else.

I remember feeling burnt out after years of playing sports every season growing up. By my senior year in HS, I wanted more free time. Eventually, I quit my varsity lacrosse team that spring, just wanting to spend more time with my gf, but I was already feeling burnt out that fall.

I still gave it my all in games, but I was slacking in practice & everything in between... Just wanting to do the bare minimum to until game time.

Coop might not have been the great signing we hoped, but he did have quite a few amazing catches with us. There's a video of every Allen pass 20+ yards in the air front last season, and though most were incomplete, Coop was responsible for hauling in a lot of the completions.

Just a bummer we used a 3rd round pick on him.

He could have also got to camp; realized he didn’t have the skills anymore, and decide to retire again.

He's been moody/temperamental his whole career, despite playing with decent teams and QBs.

Like any job, if your heart isn't into it, it's bye bye time.

Pretty much describes his entire career.

Always wondered if he went AWOL last year during that "personal absence" period and had to be talked out of retiring then.

Hard to know how much the play of football has beat up his body. Maybe just the prospects of another tough year in the NFL was enough to say “I’m out.”  At least he did not do this at halftime of a game.

And Beane will be in touch by about Week 6 when he needs a WR...again.

First Off.. I defend my pukes..

This is a horrible take... Im not sure if you think we will be hurt by week and need WR's or just wishing it...

or

is it cause you do not like who we have?

Davis will be called in well before any phone call is made to Cooper. The dude wants to retire a Raider.. so be it.
