Interesting that there isn’t a thread for who we think will start if Tre can’t go which I believe is the most likely outcome for week one.

I’m betting we start Dorian Strong. He seemed to be trending up toward the end of preseason and is someone with the kind of boundary coverage skills the coaches will want (assuming he’s far enough along in defensive concepts). I like Ingram better when teams spread us out and we need to go dime.

What do you guys think? Is Dorian far enough along to warrant being 2nd string on the outside?

Heard he was playing better the last few weeks which would be good cause he was not doing well against the run in the bears game.  Bears ran the same play back to back plays at the goaline and he didnt replace the crack block on either (second time WR actually stuck his nose in and hit Lewis which led to a TD).

Bills are surely up for revenge each and every time they play the Chiefs in the playoffs.  Never seems to matter so far.

If we lose our home opener due to motivation, McDermott should be fired.

This is a premise talked about in the media and with fans, but any person who played sports at a high level will tell you that the only thing that matters when the ball kicks off is your talent and preparation.

Playoff games are different animals and not what I’m talking about.

All things being equal, the bills can afford to lose this game and the ravens can’t. That may have an impact on the game.

it’s probably too nuanced of a thing to successfully talk about on a message board. 🤣

Bass to IR. In Prater we must trust.

Prater is 41 years old.  How much leg can a 41 year old with a recent torn meniscus have?

Just enough for 60 minutes is all I need

You’re saying subconsciously or maybe consciously, Baltimore wants this more because of either revenge or due to their 17 game schedule and division compared to ours.

I get it.

I just don’t think it matters once the ball is kicked off.

Players constantly say this concept is oversold by fans and the media.

Ravens just did this last year, and lost.  Rematch against KC who ended their season and everyone knew the game might play into seeding down the line.

I’m aware of what players and coaches say.

I don’t think it’s possible for players to look at the schedule and not recognize certain things.

We will disagree to disagree. Let's move on.

The Ravens can't afford to lose in week 1. Yes ok...

Keep Ravens offense off field with strong running game, short passes moving the chains. We need to score early and pressure Lamar on passing downs keeping lane discipline. Keep pressure off our hurting DBs. If the Bills can keep pressure with the front four without a blitz package all the better. Keep Ravens running game off the field by forcing them to play from behind.

I think we will see plenty of 5 man sets from Buffalo.

You keep bringing up the playoffs and revenge, both of those things have nothing to do with the concept I’m discussing.

in a regular season game, where both teams are evenly matched, and one needs the win more (based on future opponents for both teams), I believe that team gains an advantage.

like I said in another post, it’s purely anecdotal and probably false. It’s just something I feel happens.

I believe we will see CB, at least to start, and 46 Ingram.

If CB can't go again it will be Strong and Ingram.

And who's behind them if one of both of them go down? Covington? Hancock? Lewis? The water boy?

Whoever is on the practice squad will get activated if White is a no-go

I just hope that all he will be doing is kicking extra points.

Keon really does seem all business this year. The jokey rookie we saw last year has vanished

It's interesting, I've heard both Josh and McD use coded language like more 'professional' and 'mature' than last year.  I don't think he didn't take it seriously last year, but like any rookie I think there's a step/realization to really understand what it takes/means to be great pro - I feel like he gets that now.  I'm excited to see him this year

Yeah, he took his job seriously last season but he was still having fun as a rookie, enjoying the novelty factor. I get the feeling once he realized how brutal the NFL can be and how high the jump in talent level is from college, he knew in order to make a mark he needed to change his approach. Maybe it will amount to nothing but like you I'm really looking forward to seeing how he does.
