lol that post was a repeat of @TheyCallMeAndy but names included.

I do completely agree on Dane and Andy’s point. This hasn’t been even a remotely decent preseason for him. Thought he’d adjust and show some bright spots periodically throughout time on the field but it’s overwhelmingly been poor.

I wonder how much trust you can have when he already, at a base line level, had a leg up on the younger guys brought in.

Dane also looks like he's about two Henry carries away from being sidelined with his own injuries.

High

4 - Always

96 - Was the best player on the defense

6 - Balled out, as the kids say. Fearless.

20 - His improvement from last year to this year is crazy.
80 - WR4. Nuff said

19 - Made a case to be the WR5

29 - Good returns

35 - Was just everywhere. Maybe still more P-Squad level, but made plays.

36 - Was apparently signed today and actually made some positive impact.

24 - Laid some hits.

Low

18 - Same old. Drops, low impact

1 - Missed game due to illness.

15 - Little impact at WR but made some big 'teams mistakes.

23 - He's had a rough preseason

90 - Not sure if he even played

40 - The whole sick thing is weird.

Wow thanks! Gore Jr might be special? Would be great to have two true studs back there.

Special would be overstating it.  Lacks the physical ability to be special.  Knows how to play football, though.

You know you're in a thread that has 30+ pages about the game that you're asking about, right?

Yes. And that’s EXACTLY why I asked for a recap, which I got. I unfortunately don’t have time to read thirty pages. But you knew that. Thanks for the reply.

Side note........Was Todd Bowles wearing a fat-suit on the sidelines?? Geez......the guy looked like the Kool-Aid Man standing on the sidelines. I was waiting for him to say "Oh Yeah!!!!!!"

Few plays in and Bishop is running with the guy, watches him make the catch, and makes a pretty good tackle.

How bout not letting the guy catch the pass.

That's not what we do here, Mister.

40 (Brad Robbins) - The whole sick thing is weird.

(Had to double check who #36 was, figured listing the names might help anyone who doesn’t know the name matching the jersey immediately. Sorry.)

What mistakes did Shenault make?   I looked at the box score and saw that he had 2 kick returns for 75 yards.

Just watched the replay & saw a good amount of positive things.

But what really stood out was how bad special teams were... I really hope they get that figured out, especially since a lot of these guys will be playing ST.

So, the Bills coaching staff decided to not play either QB competing for the backup job?

These preseason games have hit rock bottom.  Not only do they not play the starters, they’re now not playing the backups?

Of course, I remember Joe Namath having a knee injury in a preseason game.

Likely some mediocre quality of play in the first cou0l3 weeks of the season.

So, why was Zach Davidson punting?  Saving the punter’s leg fo4 the season?

He was on kick coverage and lost contain at least three times leading to big returns.

Robbins was apparently ill.  Robbins held for kicks but did not punt. Davidson was a punter until 2018.

Which play? I have been hard on Bishop but in the two series he played (I think it was just two) he played with a noticably better trigger than Ive seen before.

I can't find a play where he has a chance to break up a pass - other than the 3rd and 10 where he triggered at the right moment and smacked the receiver/broke up the pass short of the sticks. The throw was a bit behind the receiver, but even if he wasn't it was a good play and would have (finally) stopped a 3rd and long...

It wasn’t my post. It was @TheyCallMeAndy lol

I just out the names in for quick reference instead of the numbers.

McDermott appears to coach his players to give receivers a big cushion in order to not be burned deep then make the tackle. He might be right that this approach produces more wins, at least in the regular season, but it's deeply frustrating to watch. He doesn't seem to grasp, or somehow rationalizes away, that this means his pass rush is much less likely to get home. Call me old fashioned, but I'd rather see our defense completely crush their opponents while giving up the occasional big play than watch them play pitch and catch hoping they drop the ball at some point. At the very least, he should change it up in the playoffs. How much evidence does he need that playoff teams feast on soft cushions and don't make the mistakes that he counts on them to make?

Hm. Maybe a trade is in place?

It's funny.

One could interpret Samuel not traveling with the team to mean: 1) Has locked down a roster spot 2) Is going to be traded and if nothing materializes, he'll be cut 3) Still not recovered enough to play

Walker is for real. We have our Chandler Jones for the next 10 years. Loving it.

Of all the players Walker evokes, this is a very odd comparison.

Shave Moore off the roster now.

I see what you did there... maybe they should use a Wilkerson razor?

About 10 posters are saying that Shavers and Moore are competing for a roster spot.

IMO Moore and Samuel are competing for one spot.

Yeah, almost as strange a comparison as Deone Walker = Chandler Jones.

There's nothing about Buechele that would make me compare him to Josh Allen.

Alex Van Pelt, yes.

Nope. Dude was toast last yar.

Not only toast but also washed.

Imagine a nice slice of artisanal bread... but someone left it in the toaster for too long and it got burnt... so they tossed it overboard and it eventually washed up on shore. Now it's all soggy and if you tried to pick it up, it would all fall apart.

What were we talking about?

Feel more confident in Josh staying on the field on 4th down.

You know, there's something in that, and not just past the midfield line. I realize McDermott does go for it on fourth down more than most HC's, but with the the best QB in the league back there--and with spotty special teams and his own ineffective defense as the alternative--he might get better results going for it on everything shorter than 3rd and 15, even from his own end.

Swap McDermott for Dan Campbell and we'd have a dynasty.
