Forrest was also expected to compete for a starting S job, but it didn't work out. Bosa is the only DL FA or Draftee set to start. Sorry! Hairston was not guaranteed… Tre White I doubt would start on any other roster. My point is the Bills should have signed a solid FA corner who has starting experience. Other than Tre White, we all knew he might be a liability. Best ability is…… we all know it, availability. 1 1 1

Because it’s Tre and his history, I think I an even more anxious for an update on this injury than I was with Hairston. And it happened on my birthday. Ugh. I'm there too on refreshing. Beyond thinking he was ready for a revival and the need for the team, I'm just tired of Tre's story being defined by misfortune. (and happy birthday, shrug) Personally, I still feel superstitiously responsible. Nothing good ever happens to players I get merch for. Bought a Tre White Hockey Academy Jersey, loved it, but only got to wear it three times and we were 1-2. The one win: you guessed it! The Thanksgiving game where he got hurt.

MikePJ76 Posted Thursday at 07:54 PM Posted Thursday at 07:54 PM The bad defensive free agent class strikes again. Sucks for white but relying on him as a corner was not very smart. nothing good ever happens during training camp. 1

I don't think they went into the season intending to rely on him...
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted Thursday at 07:58 PM Posted Thursday at 07:58 PM Well I just say this. In a 17 game schedule and preseason you (all the teams) are going to have injuries to deal with.
ShakAttack Posted Thursday at 07:59 PM Posted Thursday at 07:59 PM Usually, when it comes to injuries to starters, I get upset because of what it means to the team. Today, I realize, for the first time, a potentially major injury is bothering me because of what it means to the player himself. We all know his history, but what a great story and opportunity to come back to Buffalo, he had been in great spirits, locked in, extremely excited and grateful to be here. And then this happens... it's just cruel. All major injuries are cruel, but this one, in particular. We've all seen White react to these injuries. I would have been feeling a lot more optimistic if he didn't punch that wall. But even with that, it seems like his reaction was not as "extreme" as the ACL and Achilles. Hopefully that means something. 7

I wanted Beane to spend on a non-retread starter at CB as well, but with having to re-sign Shakir, Benard, Cook, Josh, and Benford and limited cap space, Beane had to make a choice between getting needed help at WR (Palmer), DE (Bosa) and a CB starter and a S starter. He felt (right or wrong) that DE and WR were bigger off-season needs than CB/S and with limited cap space for FA he went in that direction. I understand the decision and mostly agree with it. Our WR play and DE play were worse than our DB play last season (and that is saying something). He also had Bishop who he hopes will make a huge step forward in year 2 at S and a good group of CBs with 1st rd grades. PS I'm not absolving Beane from wasting money on Samuel or for blowing the Elam draft pick. I think we'd all feel better about things if Elam had worked out.
