Hairston just needs to be a hit this year, we can't afford for him to struggle or be injured all year. And honestly I've been thinking that would need to be the case even before Tre's injury today. Obviously hoping for good news but it was always likely he would get hurt or not be able to perform.

As much as the DL got all the attention last year, my take was that the secondary was the bigger problem. My concern is that if Hairston isn't ready the secondary hasn't improved at all. That will make it harder for the DL to have an impact. I loved Hairston as a prospect but he needs to get back out there soon so we can see where he's at. If he isn't ready and Tre's injury is bad then I would begrudgingly welcome Rasul Douglas back because he at least gives us a baseline.

You're dead on when talking about the symbiosis between DL and Secondary.  I think the front office did a job bringing in players to address secondary, just not sure they did a good job.  They spent 33% of their draft picks on secondary and used two free agent pickups there too.   Douglas may have been bad towards the end last year, but at the very least he was available.   Tre was both bad and unavailable for the better part of two seasons.

For the bills to get over the hump, a lot of players are going to need to outperform their contract. Just how it is, regardless of this injury.

at some point McDermott is going to have to let some of the younger, more athletic, players play. If this is a serious injury, I hope he lets someone play that isn’t the safe choice

Next man up should be Ingram.  He has length, and looks better than Jackson and Strong.

Its too bad about Tre.  But he looked lousy against the Giants.  And that was giving a 10 yard cushion to the Giant receivers he was trying to guard.  Maybe Ingram has the magic.

The secondary is a mess.  Lets hope at least someone at safety steps up next to Rapp.

I have never seen a team have a run like we have in the last 3 years. One side of the ball, our defense loses an important guy every single week. It’s inconceivable

Anyone see White’s reaction? I think that in itself would give us a very good idea of what is going on. We have seen how he reacted to ACL and Achilles; know what it looks like. He is very expressive. If it didn’t look like that, I’d say there’s some hope that it isn’t major…
