This is absolutely right IMO.

He is the 2nd best safety on the roster and yet we all know he isn't good enough.

It's a weird position to be in defending Hamlin when it's so difficult. He is better than Bishop because he doesn't make the fatal mistakes. When you say this people take it as saying that Hamlin is good. Hamlin is only better than Bishop. Right now.  Maybe not in 5-6 weeks (but probably still).

Anyone with a lick of sense knows we need help at Safety. But we had it good for so long. So good for so long. Excellent, even

If this is the case then beane needs to get on the phone and package epinesa plus a fifth for someone who can come in and start without being a liability. Because here again it will cost again in the playoffs against better qbs.

He’s not getting cut. Those guys watched him die on the field. Is what it is

What is the argument here? That because he was the victim of an unfortunate freak accident (that ended up turning out okay), he just automatically gets a roster spot in perpetuity?

McD is too emotionally invested in him to cut him unfortunately.

There is no evidence of this. Hamlin started most of the year last year because Cole Bishop was so bad and they had no one else.

People need to stop acting like the Bills keep trotting Hamlin out like he’s a make a wish kid. He’s a legit NFL player and a backup caliber safety. Blame Beane for giving the coaching staff no viable option to replace him

He runs like molasses (in comparison to nfl athletes), he is not physically at all, and is late to nearly every play.  All it seems he can do is dive at a ball carrier's shins.   But apparently he knows the defense and can be trusted.

They really need to monitor the cut wire in attempt to improve the safety position.  Not sure they could cut Hamlin at this point due to the state of the position group.  Even if they added a safety.

It was… massively disappointing… that he looked like a liability among backups.

I said this all last season and people mocked me constantly. He has neverrrrrrr been good.

Cutting Hamlin should happen.  That would be a great story line for Hard Knocks. But it won't happen.

Problem is they don’t have anyone to replace him with because they missed badly on Cole and have made no other real moves to solidify the safety position.

Rolling into another season with often injured Rapp and liability Hamlin wasn’t a good idea last year and isn’t a good idea this year.

Ironically, that "freak accident" is probably the single best thing that ever happened to him.

Hamlin is quite literally at least the second best S on the roster.

He’s also occasionally a disaster.

Its a real mess

And that is why we are not Championship Caliber

This might be an unpopular opinion but I said this draft night, I said it again after the draft and I'm saying it again now.....Beane should have tried like Hell to trade up for Malaki Starks.  I think he was in a position where he probably could have.  If there was just no chance at doing that then he should have drafted Emmamwori at 30

Exactly how I feel. Word for word. Hamlin is a back of a 53 player. But he is our second best safety. I feel like others want to run with the unknown in the hope they are more than a back of a 53 player.... and I get that... but when they look so awful on the field and are making as you say - the fatal mistake - it gets hard to support that.

Hamlin was a popular whipping boy last year but he truthfully wasn’t that bad.  He was an average middle of the road NFL player.  The type that every team has starting somewhere bc of the salary cap.

but - Bishop and Hamlin don’t even play the same position, Rapp is the starter and Bishop is his backup.  If Bishop was any good, Rapp would slid over and take Hamlins spot.

These last two drafts are looking like total failures.

Look how invested we were to get the Forrest kid and how he was going to be a game changer to rejuvenate our DB.

I am disappointed the guy has not climbed the charts but I never saw him starting. Not with McDermott. He runs with what he brung. He trusts what he knows. Hamlin he knows. He knows he can cover the shortcomings with Hamlin but we cannot with Bishop yet. We do not know enough about him; that's why Hamlin starts.

Why would they make the weakest position group on the team weaker on August 18th?

I still wish we signed Andre Cisco but it doesn’t matter now.

There will be an incredible amount of emotion around cutting Hamlin.  He's just terrible and its obvious he needs to go.  He's a wonderful survival story and he turned a terrible near tragedy into an amazing positive national story and education opportunity.  It's time to move on though.  Bills can not afford the distraction of cutting him after the next game and in the leadup to week 1.  Do it tomorrow or Tuesday.  Then start working the phones and move a reserve OL for a backup safety that at least belongs in the NFL.

I appreciate what he went through and his story, but he sucks on the field, and truthfully he want that good before that night in Cincinnati.

Buffalo has to stop with the feel good stories, and put the best guys on the field  amd he isnt one of them

Safety is far and away the worst position group on the roster.  They have to fix it, quick.  It’s a disaster.

Safety and WR.  Samuel and Moore need to go
