I'm not good with understanding these things  Yes. That $48 mill will essentially be spread over 5 years because the amortised signing bonus will start immediately and some of that money will hit the 2025 cap.  EDIT: but the $5.7m cap charge already due this year has to be accounted for too. So if it's a 4 year $48m extension that leaves him with a 5 years $53.7m contract...... Edited August 13 by GunnerBill 5 1 1 Quote
dollars 2 donuts Posted August 13 Posted August 13 (edited) Glad he is in.  would have preferred the 3 yrs 36, 24 guar.  Just hope they have room for McGovern and Torrence next year. Edited August 13 by dollars 2 donuts 2 6 Quote
SCBills Posted August 13 Posted August 13 4 years works for me.  He hardly has any miles on the tires from UGA and we don’t exactly run him into the ground either. 9 6 Quote
haroldwaide Posted August 13 Posted August 13 When McDermott was able to talk him into warming up last week, plus he returned to practice, I figured a reasonable deal was close.  Congrats to both sides. Now win the damn Lombardi 6 1 2 Quote

Just the nature of the beast. 2 Quote
SydneyBillsFan Posted August 13 Posted August 13 This is great news! Â If he could improve his pass pro it would become an epic deal. Â Â Quote

eball Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Love it.  He wanted to be here, and they came significantly off that ridiculous 15M number.  Great for both sides all around.  I’ve been on record all along that Cook is a very important piece of this offense and not easily replaceable.  2 1 Quote

No more Jones after this year, maybe no more White or Jackson, no more Esmeralda (depending on how he plays), no more....  Means $$$$$$$$  If more than that come through, well, the sky is the limit for what the Bills will be able to do.  I believe this is what they are counting on, and will use this money to then help the offense, first and foremost locking up O-line players in one of the best lines in the NFL.   2 1 Quote

WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I honestly didn't think it was going to happen at all never mind before the season.  $12 million per year likely with incentives being part of that? I can live with that 1 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I'm guessing Beane opened around $10M per, and we all know Cook's starting number. Good compromise on both sides. Â Took some maneuvering and working leverages, but they got it done. Â No one will remember all the thread drama by the time the season starts. 1 2 Quote
loveorhatembillsfan4life Posted August 13 Posted August 13 It’s pretty amazing the extensions Beane handed out this offseason in keeping the  core together. Beane pretty much staying true to his word of drafting and resigning if it’s in the best interest.  Pretty pumped Cook is staying. I didn’t like the distraction affecting our goals and arguably our best weapon outside of Allen.  I’m also happy for my son who just bought a Cook jersey last year and will get more  than a year out of it.   4 Quote
