dayman Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Obviously, we didn’t disrupt Wilson doing it vanilla. But even with various stunts, it’s not going to get home. Will we blitz this year? 2 Quote
RobbRiddick Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago So after one preseason game it’s clear we won’t get pressure with 4 all season? Coleman didn’t get a big play, clearly he’ll disappoint this year. Quote

Brianmoorman4jesus Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 2017 our defense was good. Teams got that offseason to study it and our defense has been useless since. This coach relies on turnovers and our own offense to bail us out. If we aren’t turning people over, we aren’t stopping them. If our offense isn’t scoring TDs constantly, we aren’t winning. As long as this guy is here, it will never change. That’s why we haven’t won a Super Bowl. I don’t care if McDermott stays on as HC. But if he has any influence over the defense or offensive philosophy, we aren’t going to win the Super Bowl. Hes a good culture guy, a good leader and someone who holds people accountable…his game day decisions, personnel moves and X’s and O’s are terrible. 3 1 Quote

Will we blitz this year? Bosa is our only hope to pressure with 4 against any team with a good OL. CB blitzes have been the only blitzes that have been successful under McD. Bringing LBs or safeties has rarely worked. Quote

Maine-iac Posted 45 minutes ago Posted 45 minutes ago I thought the starter plus Solomon were more than adequate. They were after the QB a lot. Our coverage on the other hand left a lot of open guys and easy quick throws so the ball was out. After the starters and the 2nd string it got considerably worse. Jackson had a pretty rough go and without looking at film I'm guessing Carter was invisible. 1 Quote

LEBills Posted 39 minutes ago Posted 39 minutes ago 1 hour ago, HOUSE said: I am worried about field goals, this Davis kid looks shaky yes they should try him at a different position…but which one? 🧐 Quote
T.E. Posted 37 minutes ago Posted 37 minutes ago I've never seen a team in my life go through more defensive lineman without finding a consistent pass rusher. Hopefully Bosa can fill that role and stay healthy all year, which is a big ask. Quote
SCBills Posted 29 minutes ago Posted 29 minutes ago That’s not clear to me at all. I think we are going to be much more exotic with 5 man pressures and simulation pressure based on the coaches they brought in and comments from players, but I came out of that game thinking any Front 4 combination of Bosa, Rousseau, Hoecht, Oliver, Sanders and Walker is going to be tough for opponents to deal with on passing downs. 1 Quote

Brianmoorman4jesus Posted 24 minutes ago Posted 24 minutes ago The modern day QB gets the ball out way too fast. You don’t get there with 4, nobody does. Unless you have a once in a lifetime game like the eagles in the Super Bowl..you gotta confuse them. You need to send pressure and have unpredictable coverage looks. We do the same thing every year and it’s never is going to confuse anyone. Every decent QB has whatever they want on 3rd down. We never make stops. It’s painfully obvious to anyone that watches is. This is THE problem. It just continues to be ignored and kicked down the road. You aren’t getting there with 4 because the QBs get the ball out to quick. It’s not our guys…it’s the scheme 1 1 Quote

And don’t worry a ton with vanilla preseason scheme because they specifically brought in coaches who play more aggressive man and bring more pressure/sims. Do worry about CB2 with Hairston out, because the cushions Tre was giving were straight out of the Bengals playoff game a few years ago… and we know Dane is probably a step below Tre. We’re not getting to anyone if the QB can look over to our CB2 on 3rd and 8 and see he’ll have an easy quick completion at the sticks all game. Quote

I honestly believe if we could cover this line will put up some good sack numbers. Am I wrong in thinking our coverage used to be better? I'm not sure if we gambled more and played less soft coverage. I feel like we blitzed a db more often. Maybe our DC's just aren't good at timing or are too predictable. Whatever the case you are absolutely right. They call the right play against our 3rd down defense all the time. We're either too soft and an easy catch and run or some type of screen or a jump ball for a big gain we just couldn't knock to the ground. Quote

Those first two drives trubisky was under pressure each play. lots of teams get home rushing four. You have to have the talent to do It however. Quote
