Shocker.  Im not one to blame the refs for a loss or win, but this was overwhelming.  Its not like it was one game or one referee crew.

its in the past so moving onto this year.  At least Allen has his mvp so maybe we get a few breaks as well.  I like many just want a fair game for both sides.  No making excuses either way.

Chiefs have an elite coaching staff and the most clutch QB in football.

They don’t need the refs’ help.

They get it … but that’s likely more because of gambling than anything else.

My perspective is that the officials are in general old men who see what they expect to see, they are not corrupt but simply incompetent. None will give up the job though because they love the pay and the spotlight

Some of the calls here I don't necessarily disagree with, like the roughing the passer penalties against Mahomes. Also, with a full season to work with, you could persuasively cherry pick evidence of bias helping or hurting any team; unconscious bias is inevitable. Finally, anomalies do happen; getting pocket aced three times in a row doesn't necessarily mean the dealer is cheating.

But I don't see why all this can be true AND that it's also true the refs are deliberately influencing some Chiefs game. In fact, it might be naïve to think otherwise, given the truly enormous amount of money at stake and how easy it would be to pull off.

Bottom line (to me): With normal levels of ref bias, the Chiefs would have won maybe 12 games last year, would not have hosted the AFCC, and would not have gone to the Super Bowl. I'm not claiming there's a league-wide conspiracy, but I'm pretty sure someone has been putting a finger on the scale these past few years to make sure the Chiefs succeed. Why they would want a petulant, mincing whiner like Mahomes to be the poster child for the league is another question.

Yet so many people defend gambling can co-exist with the game. If what you are saying has any truth to it, then the game is ruined. We are just too addicted to believe it to be true.

I am in this place... maybe they do.. can't change that... figure out a way to beat them and move on...  I want a Superbowl... not a well I woulda won if the refs didnt cheat and here is proof...  not saying this isnt legit... I am just saying figure out a way to beat them both then.... cause I just want one before we all die... and if something takes focus off of that... than remove that something...

Chiefs will get two ball placements go their way in a crucial part of the game, but their defenders will point to a holding flag in the first quarter.

For the Chiefs, it always seems to be when these calls are made vs how the calls are made.

The impact of the refs is really overblown. They do fine most of the time. Sometimes they blow a call or miss something. Those times suck, and sometimes they really do impact the outcome, but I don't believe it is intentional and often those calls are closer than a lot of biased fans want to admit. And sometimes the fans just don't know the actual rules and are calling for flags on perfectly legal plays (such as holding by the offensive line in certain situations).

All that being said, I don't think the refs actually try to help the Chiefs, at least not consciously. It is impossible to eliminate bias, though, and that can creep in from time to time. But there is no larger conspiracy.

Anyone thinking that gambling doesn’t impact the outcome of games is burying their head in the sand.

Yes. The 'when' is huge vs how, or even how many.  A lot of folks will point to the fact that there's a few missed calls every game. True. and they'll point to the fact that it's about the same for every team. Also, mostly true. But the calls at crucial parts of the game that goes the Chiefs way is the pendulum. And it's not always a call that wins/loses the game, but one that changes the trajectory of the game. That's still huge.

Bills have obviously gotten calls in their favor, but most of them are, 'ok....so what'?! Very little affect.

Taylor Swift. Case closed.

I want to see Taylor & Hailey in a cage match as the half time of the AFC Championship game between the Bills & the Chiefs winner takes all ...

The NFL is not WWE. But I wouldn't be surprised if the league "nudges" preferred outcomes.

When it comes to close calls, you win some you lose some.  Everyone remembers the ones that change game outcomes and make assumptions.  Let's not be a fanbase full of whiners.
