This was the birth of the "glory years".  One or two weeks earlier the Bills were getting smashed and Levy pulled Bruce and others in the 4th quarter.  Bruce had a tantrum....then this happened late in the game.

This brings up fond memories and a funny story.

 

I was away for the weekend and got home late Sunday night. I had recorded this game on a VHS tape.  I sat down to watch the game and to my  disappointment the tape ran out before the end of the game.

 

I accepted that the Bills lost the game and went to bed.

 

It wasn't until Monday morning that I saw the Bills won!  I couldn't believe it.

 

That was a magical year and the beginning of a fun run for our beloved Bills.

Wasn't it Leonard Smith against Denver? I think the Odomes high-step was the next week after he stripped Willie Gault.

that was the one in fact against the raiders the following week.  guess that memory didnt stick out as well as i thought!

Ahhhh - those were the days.  Made those season tix from 1986 till then so much more enjoyable!  I sat thru 21 years being a season tix holder, 1985 I went to every game but a diff ticket each time.  1986 I got my first season ticket package.  GOOD TIMES....that was until the Ill-fated Music City disaster.  After that pretty much all down hill.....2007 was my last year.  What I paid for Jim Kelly Club seats towards the end wouldn't even get me 2 games at Highmark.......ugh!

There is such a talent disparity from those teams to now. It really shows you how much is on Josh Allen’s shoulders and it’s no surprise that the current team has never made it to the Super Bowl.

That was a great call that still is awesome watching it on television. Ball tipped and Intercepted by Leonard Smith- he’s going to go in… and Buffalo takes the lead!

Back in those days the scoreboard sucked and I used to bring a small TV into the games to watch the replays.  Before the blocked kick I said "The Bills are going to block the kick & return it for a TD" Seconds later that happened.  The guy in front of us turned and asked if my TV can see the future.

I was at the game. Was drinking throughout the game, back then we could bring beer into the stadium, I think 1 quart was allowed and they never questioned my gallon jug I was bringing in. Needed to go to the bathroom, so when is better than when lining up for a kick. Well, bottom line I was somewhere between walking towards or already being in the concourse for the 77 seconds. Somewhat saw part of it from the stairs or tunnel to the concourse, but missed much of it.

Great take and insight and something I hadnt thought about before. The timing was lost in my childhood memory and I hadnt realized it occurred on the path to our first SB. Totally agree.
