He has his faults, but I think he fits in the Top 10 somewhere. Some valid ones ahead of him, but I can't get on board with Kevin Stefanski. Further, you can certainly make arguments against several others. Also depends on how its being measured. X's and O's and innovation, he would not be in my top 10. Intangibles, he certainly would be. More likely top 5 if not top 3. 1 Quote
LEBills Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Seems like they are weighing Super Bowl wins and appearances heavily. If that is their prerequisite to be at the top, it is what it is. McDermott should probably be 9 on this list then, though I think he is better than Sirianni, Tomlin and the Harbaughs too. Quote
Fleezoid Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Well 6 of those have won Super Bowls and Shanahan has been to 1. I weight that pretty heavily. Two of the rest are debatable, but I get the above comment about Stefanski. I don't get that one. Quote

TheWeatherMan Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Any coach that has JA17 as their QB should statistically be a top 5 coach. That being said…I agree with the PFF for once. 1 2 Quote

Which is why I think Brian Billick was a stinking genius and best coach on the planet at the time he won a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer (defense aside). 1 Quote
Buffalo716 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) PFF sucks and he's absolutely a top 5-7 coach Do you remember the roster that he got us to the playoffs with? Charles Clay was our number one pass catching option Preston Brown and Ramon Humber at LBr lol The Sean McDermott slander is disgustingly sad for what he has done with our franchise People act like we lucked into Peyton Manning who was a guarantee basically not to bust lol we literally picked the kid who had the biggest bust potential and they groomed him Sean McDermott 100% gets credit for being a calming influence around Josh Allen And helping him grow.. just like belichick gets credit for helping brady Edited 7 hours ago by Buffalo716 4 1 1 Quote
buffblue Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago He's in the low end of the top 10 imo. Having Tomlin and Stefanski ahead of him is laughable Quote
julian Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Just more evidence of Allen’s greatness, so much winning year after year with a deep, but not elite roster while carrying an average coaching staff. 1 1 Quote
The Firebaugh Kid Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago That’s terrible and downright disrespectful 1 1 Quote

That is the farthest thing from fact Remember going 17 years without playoffs? You remember the roster McDermott took us to the playoffs with? Do you remember that Josh Allen was considered one of the rawest quarterback prospects ever who had a huge bust potential? We took a kid who had a massive chance of flopping and they groomed him Sean McDermott has been there every step of the way he deserves credit for helping mold Josh Allen into player he is.. he is the head coach and around Josh every single day and been a calming study influence He literally took a kid people thought shouldn't be drafted in the top 10 and helped coach him into a superstar Edited 7 hours ago by Buffalo716 1 1 Quote
henry jones Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago While it's not completely his fault, he is a "defensive coach" and his defenses in the playoffs have given up the most PPG in NFL history. 2 Quote

That's not true.. people literally have created their own statistics Taking his last five losses.. and his points per game in those losses.. and then said his 33.2points per game allowed in his last five losses is the most in NFL history But guess what that was also a lie cuz I looked at Mike McCarthy's last five playoff losses and it's worse Cherry picking his losses you can take the last five playoff losses from every coach and they're all 27+ to 32 points per game You could cherry pick any coaches last five playoff losses and no coach is allowing 22 points per game in a loss lol Edited 6 hours ago by Buffalo716 Quote

Walking Tall Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago To say he isn’t in the top 10 is ***** stupid. 1 Quote
Buffalo716 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago People will cherry pick Sean McDermott's last five playoff losses And be like oh my God his last five losses he allows 33 points a game Andy Reid is allowing 31.5 points per game allowed in his last five losses in the playoffs with a healthier defense! These Cherry picked stats are stupid 1 1 Quote

I remember going to the playoffs with the same record that we missed out on the playoffs twice during the drought. I remember only having that record because we played the easiest schedule ever, facing Josh McCown, David Fales, Trevor Siemian, Jameis Winston, Jacoby Brissett, Derek Carr, Alex Smith, Matt Ryan, and Jay Cutler. I remember needing Andy Dalton to save us. This is nothing against McD… just saying that year proves nothing imo. 1 1 Quote

Semantics Nobody ever said through 17 years we didn't have a roster that wasn't good enough to be the last seed in the playoff The difference is Sean McDermott got it done.. difference is Sean McDermott took a kid who half the NFL Network said shouldn't be drafted in the top three rounds Said we were dumb for taking him And Sean McDermott and his steady hand helped turn around a franchise The franchise was in shambles before he got here.. the front office the kitchen at one Bills drive.. Sean McDermott brought respect to every single person at one Bills drive whether you're a coach or making food ... Josh Allen shout it out the mailman at his MVP address! Sean McDermott and his attitude has changed the culture And his calming influenced helped develop Josh Allen.. and countless other players on our roster No the slander on Sean McDermott is disgusting Sean McDermott has forgotten more about football than you will ever know... You can have a team of division 1 stars and Sean McDermott would beat you with division 2 players... He knows more about football than you will ever know Edited 6 hours ago by Buffalo716 2 Quote
stevestojan Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago He lucked into Allen. There is nothing - in his scheme, his clock/game management, his decision making, or his “defensive mindset” that puts him in the top 20. Without Allen, he’s out of a job 4 years ago. 1 1 Quote
