McDermott not in Top 10 of NFL coaches per PFF.

Some valid ones ahead of him, but I can't get on board with Kevin Stefanski. Further, you can certainly make arguments against several others. Also depends on how its being measured. X's and O's and innovation, he would not be in my top 10. Intangibles, he certainly would be. More likely top 5 if not top 3.

Seems like they are weighing Super Bowl wins and appearances heavily. If that is their prerequisite to be at the top, it is what it is. McDermott should probably be 9 on this list then, though I think he is better than Sirianni, Tomlin and the Harbaughs too.

Well 6 of those have won Super Bowls and Shanahan has been to 1.  I weight that pretty heavily. Two of the rest are debatable, but I get the above comment about Stefanski. I don't get that one.

Any coach that has JA17 as their QB should statistically be a top 5 coach.  That being said…I agree with the PFF for once.

I actually think the opposite. Having JA should cost you points because Josh Allen will Josh Allen regardless. Which is why I think Brian Billick was a stinking genius and best coach on the planet at the time he won a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer (defense aside).

Remember going 17 years without playoffs? You remember the roster McDermott took us to the playoffs with?

 

Do you remember that Josh Allen was considered one of the rawest quarterback prospects ever who had a huge bust potential? We took a kid who had a massive chance of flopping and they groomed him 

 

Sean McDermott has been there every step of the way he deserves credit for helping mold Josh Allen into player he is.. he is the head coach and around Josh every single day and been a calming study influence 

 

He literally took a kid people thought shouldn't be drafted in the top 10 and helped coach him into a superstar

That's not true.. people literally have created their own statistics 

 

Taking his last five losses.. and his points per game in those losses.. and then said his 33.2points per game allowed in his last five losses is the most in NFL history 

 

But guess what that was also a lie cuz I looked at Mike McCarthy's last five playoff losses and it's worse

 

Cherry picking his losses you can take the last five playoff losses from every coach and they're all 27+ to 32 points per game

 

You could cherry pick any coaches last five playoff losses and no coach is allowing 22 points per game in a loss lol

And be like oh my God his last five losses he allows 33 points a game 

 

Andy Reid is allowing 31.5 points per game allowed in his last five losses in the playoffs with a healthier defense!

Semantics 

 

Nobody ever said through 17 years we didn't have a roster that wasn't good enough to be the last seed in the playoff 

 

The difference is Sean McDermott got it done.. difference is Sean McDermott took a kid who half the NFL Network said shouldn't be drafted in the top three rounds 

 

Said we were dumb for taking him 

 

And Sean McDermott and his steady hand helped turn around a franchise 

 

The franchise was in shambles before he got here.. the front office the kitchen at one Bills drive.. Sean McDermott brought respect to every single person at one Bills drive whether you're a coach or making food ... Josh Allen shout it out the mailman at his MVP address! Sean McDermott and his attitude has changed the culture

 

And his calming influenced helped develop Josh Allen.. and countless other players on our roster

There is nothing - in his scheme, his clock/game management, his decision making, or his “defensive mindset” that puts him in the top 20. 
 

Without Allen, he’s out of a job 4 years ago.
