We have benford and thats it. Taron was an all pro, but started falling off last year.

I would have invested heavily in press/ man corners this offseason.   Mahomes, Burrow etc get the ball out fast, we have to be able to jam and hold up WR's better to allow the pass rush to generate pressure.

That's not really how the NFL operates. For example the Broncos probably run the most man in the league, and they do less than 50% of the time

Week one presents a real challenge though because Baltimore likes to play big with two tight ends and it will be really tough for Buffalo to play nickel as a base and have Johnson out there.

I think the jets and pats are going to play big and just run the ball at Buffalo also.  These are going to be big challenges for Buffalo.  Hopefully they have a good plan for this.

Agree - Baltimore gives everyone problems though.  And Likely might be out week 1, which would be huge.

Same issues that have always presented against a heavy nickle team like us.  McD has schemed around it, lots of ways to slant/align in under/bring Dorian in on early downs/drop a safety/etc.  Nothing new is my point.  Taron is one of the most aggressive nickle backs in the NFL.

Key against these teams is more about having a healthy Milanoz TB and Taron.  That allows us to do so much, as those are extremely versatile/athletic players.

Again, we will be fine if our "core" stay mostly healthy.  Same story as usual.

Well, Hairston's season is going to pretty much be a wash now. He'll be out for four weeks then comes the next three weeks where his practice window is open. Probably won't see him on the field until week 8, and that's IF his knee is responding the way they want it to. And then it will be whether McD plays him, or sticks with the guys he's got already for the most part. My bet is on the latter.

Let's hope we get up 40-0 in a couple of those games.

We drafted Maxwell Hairston, the fastest player in the draft and the 4th best corner in the draft.  We’ve never had a corner that can turn and run with true downfield threats.

we have Benford to matchup with the bigger more physical WRs.  Those are the guys that will give Hairston trouble and those are the guys that Benford will be covering.

Who knows how he turns out, but Beane bet on traits.  And I’m glad that he bet on the speed trait.  If he can becomes a plus starter, it will allow us to play more aggressively.

No offense, but I would bet my last penny that you would be saying we needed to draft matchup speedy corner if Beane had drafted a press man corner and he got injured.

Taron isnt falling off.

It was Rasul losing five steps and Elam being forced into action.

And we did invest in the secondary - our top pick and 2 mid/late draft picks.  You act like we are running it back with the same group.

Same goes for DL - invested both draft and FA.

Not sure I understand this opinion.  Max will be back after 4 weeks, we have a lot of talent at cornerback/this is probably the best group McD has had since being here.

Max is behind and McDermott doesnt seem to let rookies who missed camp time play

If Mercury and Jupiter align perfectly with the X-33N meteor belt and Pluto at the time of the next vernal equinox, he might see the field by the end of the 2027 season!!!

I'd like to remind folks that the Bills almost went to the SB with Levi Wallace at CB

The rest of the defensive backfield was a WEE bit different then, no?

Did I say that? No…. I didn’t.

No, you didn’t say that.  But you wouldn’t be saying that if Hairston didn’t get hurt.

Are you trying to imply that Cole bishop and Rapp aren't as good as prime Poyer or Hyde?..😉

And he was a big reason they didn't.

Huh? And my Aunt would be my Uncle if…..

The point is that they’ve invested two first round picks on this single roster spot and as of yet have absolutely nothing to show for it. That’s a recipe for disaster in a league where top draft picks are a really valuable commodity. The franchise desperately needs for Max to heal and more importantly develop into a long term starter. You cannot keep playing with fire without getting burned.

LOL.  Good grief man.  The season hasn’t even started yet.  If he was healthy and named the starter…. We’d still have nothing to show for it.

He got injured in preseason- he’s sure to be a bust…..and Beane should’ve known he was going to get hurt.  He should’ve known “not to play with fire”.  The fire that’s a figment of your imagination.

It occurs to me at times that maybe the Bills FO knows more than the fans, sometimes. Is that possible?

Once again, my comment has nothing to do with Beane; no matter how desperate you are to make it so. It’s simply a statement of fact.

A radical concept that many fans around here have difficulty with.
