Is the bills defense really that difficult to learn that it takes this long for a rookie to get up to speed... and if it is what are they doing it's not working? ( I'm also not buying that the injury is so bad that he's been out this long they pulled him for other reasons is my guess)

"You see that guy right in front of you?  Don't cover him!"

I can see how it would be a transition period for most competitors.

This injury has been a mystery since day one!  Is he practicing with the team during sessions that reporters aren't allowed to view? I also question our difficult, intricate defense!

Huh?

He had a rough LCL injury. We were lucky it wasn't a tear or an ACL. But that's still going to take a few months to be 100%.

He absolutely hasn't been practicing with the team. He legally wasn't allowed to take part in sessions on IR. You saw him working with trainers and rehabbing.

There was no benching "or pulling him". He simply was injured. And they weren't going to put him back on the Practice field until they were completely sure he was 100%

As for why they aren't just going to throw him on the field, he's a Rookie who's never played a down in the NFL, missed over half of Training Camp, and all of the Pre-Season. He needs at least a couple weeks of practice working with the Defense before they just throw him on the field.

Where did you hear this? That changes things, if true.

Original reports was that he could be back in 3-4 weeks after the injury (that would have been over a month ago).

The question is, what's he been doing while out? He's a guy that should be DEEP in his playbook. Watching film. Learning all he can to build that knowledge. He should be WELL studied by now and know almost every detail of the defense.

It says right in that tweet that it was an LCL Sprain. A high ankle sprain can take over a month and then linger on WR's and CB's who are constantly running on it. This was a Knee. There was no indication on the severity of the Sprain. But considering they initially feared a torn ACL, it was probably a pretty rough Sprain.

As for the 3-4 week window not being met, you see that all the time in the NFL. They're estimates. And generally best possible scenario estimates. The injury might have lingered longer than they expected. There might have been setbacks. Knee injuries are always going to be aired on the side of caution.

That was the following day of the injury SPECULATION.

I have to think he's getting close to ready since you don't have to open it at all. Sadly he probably won't be ready for KC but I'll take it

I mean, you don't have to open it at all. But then he just stays on IR. Even with Practice Window opening, it's not a guarantee he'll play. You could open the Practice Window, not like what you see, and decide to place him on Season Ending IR after opening the window.

It's def possible that he sees the field for the Chiefs game. Zero chance he sees the field for the Panthers game. But I agree it's probably more likely that it's the third week.

Hopefully it's sooner than later bc when he does play, they aren't going to just start him. He'll be on limited reps with a weekly ramp up depending on how he looks week to week. For those of us hoping he replaces White as full time Starter, I wouldn't expect it until like Week 11 or Week 12 at the absolute earliest.

The most severe lcl sprain is 8-12 weeks. Any more severe, and it would've been a full tear, and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Positive sign, I don't think this means much in terms  of playing this week. Probably will want him to at least get the full 21 days of practice outside shot he plays against KC but even then do you want to throw him in the fire on a big stage when you can give him another week?

He needs to play against KC. We have no one to cover their receivers.

To me you can’t not play this guy. Tre White knows the defense and is objectively bad. Rapp knows the defense and is worse than ever. Can’t we play Hancock and Hairston and see what they can do before we have to play because starters are inevitably injured?

LCL and ACL are two entirely different things as is the MCL too. Jeesh. This is weird

Yes, I do. 😄  The thought of Tre White chasing guys around all game is scary.
