Pretty inexcusable to miss out on the playoffs when your QB totals up 5100 all purpose yards and 45 TDs. Your top 2 WRs account for a combined 2600 yards and 27 TDS. And you have a demon like Trey Hendrickson flying off the edge w/ 17.5 sacks. The Bengals literally have top five talent at 3 of the 4 most important positions. If they can’t get it done now, they definitely won’t later when they end up in cap hell. I feel bad for that fan base. Quote
Gugny Posted yesterday at 04:52 PM Posted yesterday at 04:52 PM (edited) Bengals bungled their way to a Super Bowl a few years ago. That must have been neat for their fans. The following year, they Bungled their way past a wonderfully prepared and enthused Bills team and went the the AFCCG. I bet that was pretty cool for their fans too. Seems to me the Bills bungled more than the Bengals. 🤷♂️ Edited yesterday at 04:53 PM by Gugny Quote

Are they wasting Joe Burrow? Give me our Bills, please and thank you. 1 Quote

Logic Posted yesterday at 05:56 PM Posted yesterday at 05:56 PM (edited) I'd be embarrassed if I was a Bengals fan. But the truth is this: Even though there's a salary cap that's the same for all 32 teams, the playing ground is not TRULY level for all teams. Teams with cash-rich owners have an inherent advantage over teams without them. Teams like the Bills have an advantage over teams like the Bengals, who admittedly don't make things better for themselves by pulling bush league stunts like this with players. I expect the NFL to find a way to address this sooner rather than later. The creative circumvention of the salary cap using void years, conversions to signing bonuses, etc, has caused the league to take notice, and I think changes will be on the way in the years to come. The Bills have a chance when they are in the playoffs. The Bengals do not when they are sitting at home with most of their cap space going to just a few guys. I would have a hard time being a fan of any NFL team from Ohio. 1 Quote

I’m not saying I follow this closely, but when teams have been affected by intolerable player behavior and players were cut, teams have sued to get a portion of their guaranteed money back. Without knowing more than what’s in this thread, maybe they’re just trying to codify this upfront. If that’s the case then I am all for it. I don’t know what the meaning of default is in this scenario. If I knew that, it would clear things up. Rookies get paid so little now compared to what they used to. The only upside they have under the rookie wage scale is a gaurenteed 4 years of money. 1 1 Quote

The Bengals, meanwhile, have only made the playoffs twice. They went far those two years, but they don't have a superbowl win either. They had a short window and that window appears to be closed, now, even with one of the best QB's in the NFL. 1 Quote

If any window appears to be closing, it’s certainly not Cincinnati’s. Two common denominators in the Josh era: Josh and McDermott. Zero Super Bowl appearances. Making fun of the Bengals is laughable. 2 Quote

No, they’re going into year 6 with arguably a top 4 QB and outside of 2 WR and an older DE they have nothing. Honestly, what do they have that’s above Buffalo outside of that-their defense IS laughable and so is their offensive line 1 Quote

And with so many busts in the NFL provides some protection for the team At the same time the NFL is basically the last remaining major sport without a fully guaranteed contract. So NFL owners want them to play the most violent sport in America, with the least amount of GTD(%) and then give ownership the ability to nope out of the rest. Make the defaulting clause league wide and move all contracts to guaranteed. 1 Quote

You can absolutely make fun of them, they have refused to address their Oline, and as a result it has ruined two of their prime Burrow seasons. now their lack of respect to their players has lost them Hendrickson, and their first round pick doesn’t want to play there unless they offer even just a normal contract. if you ask any NFL fan which team has been the best team of the past 5 years in the AFC behind the chiefs… lemme give you a hint, no one is saying the Bengals Quote

The year after Burrows and Chase were drafted they spent 9 of their 13 Round 1 through 3 picks on defense. None of them worked out the way they hoped they would and only three were starting for them at the end of last year. Look at teams like the Eagles and Chiefs who employed a similar strategy with much better results. I guess that's what happens when you cheap out on your scouting staff. 2 Quote
