I was a Cole booster out of college, he had a really sheet rookie year.  For us to win it this year, he'll have to improve a ton and fast.  He's got the athletic ability to be a top SS, but it all has to come together.

I think he had no confidence in coverage and the d we ran was too much for him to get comfortable with after his pre season injury.

He, Coleman, Carter, and all of our rookie selections this year will have to have much better development than what we saw last season.  We are pivoting to a younger faster and more athletically gifted team.

I had this experience after HS playing pickup basketball at Lancaster Boy's Club one college break and Don 'Majik Man' Majkowski was playing with us.  I played against him in HS and in pickup games back then (and he was a great HS multi-sport athlete) but by this time he was playing at W Va and holy crap had his athleticism reached grown-ass-man levels.  When the  dude came down and tomahawked a slam dunk like white chocolate thunder we all kind of just stood there like "OK".  He took it easy on us the rest of the way :p.  You know all these guys are great athletes but sometimes seeing it first hand and up close can take your breath away

Woodson was playing CB at Freemont Ross HS. He was on the side nearest my team/sideline. He was either at the LOS to play man press or off the line of scrimmage - either way he stoned his WR and pancaked him with one check while back pedaling. The play was a QB option to the other side of the play. He ran across the field in traffic after back pedaling off the WR for at least 8-10 yards to force the QB to pitch the option and still ended up tackling the carrier for a 4 yard loss.

he was literally that fast, that different.

Another one i saw was a kid named DruShawn Humphrey. A sophomore (maybe freshman) as I was a senior. He was a commit to tOSU and would have been there as a freshman with Maurice Clarret to win the natty. He was absolutely insane when he had the ball. He wasn't afraid to run at any lineman and he was fast. He could truck anyone and make it hurt.  Sadly, he had an enlarged heart and died going into his senior year playing pickup basketball that summer.

there are some other elites i've had the pleasure of competing with and against but the stories don't stick out quite the same, Roethlisberger as a WR then QB, a couple of olympic runners, professional climberss, mlb pitcher... just amazing when you see the focus that an athlete can bring on top of their shear talent.

Seriously though, this Eric Moulds character...  He's been on the team like three years and just can't make separation, catch the ball, break tackles, etc.  I've about had it with him.  I think it's time to move on.

Patience, young grasshopper.

He’s not a choirboy, but a Bishop.

Maybe we should trade him to the Cardinals.

Do the Cardinals have any Williams on their roster? We are currently short on Williams, I think the only one is Dorian.

This thread is just the ridiculous waste of time I needed and why I occasionally drop by. Thank you OP and everyone else. Go Bills.

Thanks for dropping by, tootsie

I don’t see toughness as being a weakness in Bishop’s game, matter of fact, I think that toughness is a major strength to his game, he’s similar to Poyer in that regard. The question is, does he have the brains of Poyer or the dog mentality that he had?

I see Bishop as a SS/hammer that can lay the lumber down. But how well can he cover? And how well does he have the playbook down? And can he be our QB on defense?

Im more worried about who will take on the Micah Hyde role on our defense.

I feel a need to be reassured by the board.  I get a creeping fear - which can only be based on some weird, deep-seated prejudice -- that Cole Bishop may well lack the toughness to be an NFL strong safety.  Maybe he looks a little bit too much like a choirboy.  Maybe he is too handsome and I am secretly jealous.  I am 100% rooting for him.  I know he has the height, weight and speed.  But I look at him and think "likely to be scheme sound."  No, please!  I want to look at him and say "geez, I would sure hate to be a running back and see that animal flying downhill at me.  Snot flying, drool dripping, that dude is going to wreck someone."  I want to think - wide receiver over the middle?  Not worried about it, Bishop will get there and lay the MoFo out.  They may complete one, but it will be VERY expensive for them.

Tell me I am stupid, a hater or just off base.  I really liked the pick when they made it, I am hoping he grows into a silent assassin on the back-end.  Even if he is scheme sound too (and I know he wasn't always that last year either).  Let's go Cole - cheering for you, and want to feel stupid for doubting you.  I may have to buy a Bishop jersey just to exorcise my doubts.  Thoughts?

Agreed. I don’t want a strong safety if he doesn’t drool all over himself.

Steve Tasker looked like a choir boy and he was a psychopath on the field

Cole Bishop "the psychopath on the field" isn't on the roster
