Speaks a lot to how a great QB makes everyone around him better.   The bottom line with Gabe is you cant have a featured wideout who cant catch the ball.

Nobody is going to sign someone to put them on IR.  So until he's healthy you won't really know.  I would assume he catches onto a PS later in the season when healthy to get some time to acclimate to an offense, and I expect it to be a team with a weaker depth chart where an injury probably puts him on the field pretty quickly.  Think MVS when he was cut in buffalo after the cooper trade.  

 

He likely needs some kind of "prove it" deal next offseason assuming he can get a clean bill of health.  DJ Chark keeps getting jobs, and when healthy davis still has traits teams covet in a depth WR - sideline awareness, red zone threat, and a plus blocker.

Kind of an odd career because considering his production and the fact that he was only a 4th round pick, I think it's pretty obvious that he would be considered a "hit" as a draft pick, or in the very least certainly not a miss. But he looked so promising so quickly that he feels like a disappointment.

 

I tend to think with his value as a run blocker, the fact that he was generally considered a good leader (albeit had the weird ending with his mom or whoever that was in his family), and his ability to be a passable receiving threat, he can still play a role for a lot of teams if he's willing to play for cheap, but the days of picturing him as a good WR2 or great WR3 are definitely gone. He's more in the Mack Hollins type of space.

I actually think almost exactly as you do... except I think in the right circumstance... i.e. we have WR injuries... we could bring him back here like a Beasley or Brown... I just have a suspicion he may find his way back here...  No inside info or anything but a gut feel to back that up... just a feeling...

I'm just interested in results. If he's such a worker, why did he keep dropping passes? His work rate plummeted. He shouldn't be in a Bills uniform ever again. Honestly, this is a waste of a spot for someone else, and reps,  if Bills tried to get Gabe back here.

Yeah - Moore is on a 1yr deal, and i think Samuel has a reasonable dead cap to move on from so.. probably more likely next year than this.  He's probably wanting to get on the field this year so his 2026 deal has some cash in it.

Honestly wouldn’t be the worst for the Bills if they are finding themselves in need. He has a rapport with Allen and knows the offense. As long as there isn’t bad blood.

Exactly, I am not thinking he comes back to change our superbowl aspirations... but maybe to help preserve them in a pinch...

I dont disagree, my thinking is when is he healthy and if we needed someone he could fit...if he was still available.

at one point this guy was going to tbe the next bobby trees. i really wish he could have reached that level.

I think he was a tremendous worker and because of it managed to parlay a very limited skill set into an NFL career that made him a multimillionaire.

I think Bobby Trees had some serious field instincts and Gabe, not so much.

I liked Gabe.  Most fans didn’t.  He was probably a victim of his own success.  Players drafted in his area of the draft are usually backups or depth players. He found himself starting as he checked a bunch of McDermott boxes.  Fans wanted him to be Tee Higgins.  He didn’t have that pedigree.

I think Bobby Trees had some serious field instincts and Gabe, not so much.

It's also why Trees went to USC and Davis UCF. 

 

There were hopes that Davis would be a solid #2/#3 guy. Maybe he still can.

Allow me to put on my UCF alumni cap for a moment......Davis had offers to go to "bigger" schools, but wanted to stay closer to home....he's from Sanford, Fl which is about 30 miles from the UCF campus. Not to mention the fact that he was one of the main weapons on a team that won 19 games in a row, including a 13-0 "National Championship" season even though they unfairly weren't allowed into the four team BCS playoff....

Where's UCF???? It's sorta right there in the name.

 

I put National Champions in quotes because the school pulled a stunt of declaring themselves the National Champions because they were the only undefeated team that year, and they weren't given the opportunity to compete in the Playoff....it was really a shame that UCF was left out.....not saying they would have won, but they were certainly deserving of the chance to compete

As it stands, Palmer is the only pure outside WR.   Coleman will play primarily out there, but ideally you’d like to be able to utilize him as a power slot as well.  Shakir is mainly a pure slot.  Moore can play inside/outside.  

Gabe would slide in as another pure outside guy.  Question is, would Gabe want to come here and be on the depth chart behind Palmer, Shakir and Coleman, fighting with Moore for snaps.  
 

And also, I’m pretty sure this staff wants Samuel to be a thing through hell or high water. 

 

Yes, he's a very stubborn young man... very unpleasant.

Gabe is a great 3rd receiver. He just isn't a #2.
