Efficiency is due to Josh Allen.

In Vegas he was just thrown to a ton when they were losing by 30 points.

I'm not sure of the context of Mack in 2022 as I didn't watch a ton of raiders games and didn't specifically watch him, so if what you're saying is true, I'll take your word for it

Serious question: Why does any really want Davis back?

He was often injured.  His completion % was terrible and got worse over time.

If you take the top ten WR's in targeted air yards for 2023 (Davis was 4th) and look at completion percentage Davis was 5th out of those top ten.  He was actually ahead of DK Metcalf for catch percentage at 55.56 and just behind Mike Evans who was at 58.09.  Most WR's averaging 14 plus yards for ADOT have a catch percentage from the mid 50s to low 60s.  His drop percentage for 2023 was actually the lowest of his career for us and he had zero drops for the Jags last year but also his lowest ADOT as well.

He has had a better career than every wr currently on the roster.  More yards and touchdowns than all of them.  Now he would be brought in cheap because of his injuries and inefficient play.  In a supporting role in the offense I think be could be productive if healthy.  Competing for Wr 3-5 with Samuel and Moore and some insurance for Coleman.

Curtis Samuel has more yards and TD's because he has more career games.  The rest have played less games.  Forget all the INT's when targeted, drops, and an inability to create much separation....... if you were him would you want to go back to your own team where you used to be WR2 and fight for a roster spot?  There has to be teams out there that are more attractive than this one who would guarantee him more playing time.  The Jets, Steelers, Chargers, Seahawks, and Giants come to mind.

Except he really isn’t a fit for Brady’s offense.  The guy had 0 yards in 5 of his last 9 games as a Bill and only 21 yards in a 6th.  He had only 14 catches in his last 34 targets in that 9 games period and 10 of the 14 came in only 2 games.  Sorry I just don’t see the fit.

Good research. I wanted to add as well that Ken Dorsey’s offense in 2022 and 2023 had a lot of WR choice routes where we remember Gabe (and sometimes Diggs) were not on the same page as Josh - ending in critical misfires and disappointment.

Brady’s offense seems simpler in this regard and may improve the Gabe /Allen connection if we do get to see a round 2 of this pairing.

I don't really want anyone to fill the "Hollins role".  We should be shooting for better WRs than Hollins or Davis.  They drafted a  blocking TE that can block and not catch more than 2 passes per game.  That fills the "Hollins Role".

Hollins was one of our outside WRs who can block and play special teams. Davis is similar. WR and TE are different and require distinct roles and body types. For what it’s worth, our TE room is pretty typical and well-rounded with a pass catching TE in Kincaid, do-it-all TE in Knox, and blocking TE in Hawes.

Honestly I hope not. Good dude but I was never a fan of WRS that put up all there stats in 3-4 games

Perhaps the Patriots will give him a shot!?

No thanks. Don't need to see 2 route Davis have more miscommunications and 50% drop rates. That and his typical yearly injury that is used as an excuse for why he is bad all season.

I think there’s a 50-50 shot he’s back in Buffalo.

I think if Beane can get another team to take back Samuel then I would be happy to bring back Davis

One - there is 0% chance to be WR3.  Our top 3 guys are without question Keon, Palmer, and Shakir.  Only injuries could change that.

Two - We aren’t likely keeping 6 WR, and if we do it would be to keep a ST player only like Shenault as a returner. Especially with all the new guys brought in for the secondary and DL.  So to bring him means at least Moore would be gone.

He would be a backup here playing more as a WR4/5 with Samuel at best.  And we still have Kincaid and the RBs (who all 3 RBs catch and made up 20% of Allen’s target last year).  That means Davis would be coming here for a role that is destined for 10-30 catches at best without injuries creating more opportunities.

Do you really think Davis is going to choose that minimal role over a team where he could compete to start or at least be an actual WR3?  Seems less likely to me than him going to a team with a bigger need and potential role like Giants, Steelers, Pats, Ravens, Sea, SF, etc.

He showed potential here. Had no interest in resigning him last year for the money he wanted.

Vet minimum? Sure, bring him in. Much more than that? Nope.

His $11m guaranteed this year from Jacksonville has offsets so we could pay him the vet minimum ($1.17m) and Jacksonville has to foot the rest of the bill.  There's no incentive for Gabe to sign above the vet minimum.  The question now just becomes if both sides are interested in a reunion.
