Sign him....?

Every time you sign some marginal old goat player veteran you are taking away a roster spot from a developing player. The Bills have some nice new young blood I want to see on the roster before Davis.

Unless you're talking about Kaden Prather or Tyrell Shavers (who were going to be cut anyways) or that a move for Davis would make them carry a 6th WR instead of the standard 5  - this comment doesn't really track.

Most likely, signing Gabe Davis would mean one of Davis or Moore wouldn't make the team. Maybe Curtis Samuel would be traded.

For the most part, they have a set number they roll with at each position. I don't see Gabe Davis coming in meaning we're cutting some young developmental players at another position. And the developmental guy at WR is Coleman who isn't going anywhere and the aforementioned Prather, Shavers, etc. who wouldn't make the roster anyways.

Last 6 games of 2023 (including when he was hurt), he was on a 34 catches for 725 yards and 6 TD pace.

You might want to check the dates on those games.  I think you’re looking at it wrong.

What would be so bad about bringing him back on a 1 year vet minimum and let him battle for a spot in training camp?  If he's as bad as most of you say he is, he wouldn't make the team.

He is pretty good as a 3rd or 4th option. You just don't want him as a #2 receiver. His hands are a little suspect, though.

He also isn't that great of a blocker, contrary to what some are saying. Mack Hollins was a MUCH better blocker, and more sure handed. Gabe has more receiving upside and talent, but is a high variance player, which can be frustrating.

I wouldn't mind bringing him in unless they try to put him back at the #2 spot. He isn't good enough for that role.

Probably has something to do with being among tops in the league in ADOT.

Keon was the leading Bills in ADOT last year and low and behold, 2 INTs (leading the team) when he was 7 targets higher than 4th on the roster.

Wasn't one of those interceptions to Keon a quick slant that he dropped and it popped right into the defenders hands?  Can't remember the other one but Dorsey's offense relied more on choice/option routes depending on the leverage and coverage of the defense.  Allen and Davis almost always seemed to be on the wrong page.

IMHO he has no role here, I personally doubt we keep more than 5 WRs as it is with all the bodies we have in the secondary and DL now.  So, I can’t see him coming back unless he’s willing to do it as a backup who doesn't get many snaps/targets.  I would think he wants a place where he will get more opportunities than what the Bills WR room offers him right now.  I wouldn't be against bringing him back as depth, but I just think he is going to prioritize a place where he can at least compete to start.

I wouldn't be against bringing him back as depth, but I just think there are better opportunities for him at this point in his career.

I will honestly be shocked if he isn’t a Steeler or Giant before the end of this week.  They both wake way too much sense right now

I agree fully with the bolded which is why I said he would need to be out of options.  I do think it would be the best place for him as he would fit into the role he belongs in as a 4thish receiver.

Steelers and Giants make sense from a roster pov however Steelers have no QB and the Giants are a mess.  I agree those are probably better spots for him from a financial perspective.  I am very interested in who will bring him in.  Saints are another team that could take a shot at him but again, terrible qb situation.

I could see him finding his way back here but to your point I think he has to try a couple of other places first.  If I were him though, I would give it another go with Allen and see if I couldn't trick another team into a large payday lol.

The last 6 games of the season he caught 12 passes. 3 of those games he had 0 catches. After Brady took over play calling he had 4 games without a catch

Yeah, he was a ghost. Not sure what that other poster is going on about.

It won't even be that expensive. I wouldn't be surprised if a team throws a 7th at Jacksonville before he's officially released at 4PM today. The trading team would only be on the hook for $1.5M. If he doesn't get traded, it will probably cost around the same. He's still rehabbing a knee injury and teams mostly have their rosters set at this point.

In that case, its a no brainer to me.

Injuries happen at camp.  Gabe at that price, even with his faults, is worth it.

Nope look at Allen’s interception percentage vs with and without. It’s a big no for me.

Haha actually what you are looking at is Allen's interception percentage with and without Diggs. Let me be clear, I'm not a Davis fan, he's nothing more than depth, but acting like a #5/6 receiver (no matter who it is) is going to affect Allen's int % in any significant way is silly.

WR4 at the most

1 Shakir

2 Palmer

WR3 Competition:  Moore/Samuel/Coleman

I am fine with that as well. A league min Deal. I get him back on the roster in the Hollins blocking role at minimum

Looking at his performance isn’t silly and I don’t know what you are talking about, Diggs was playing when he had 38% of Allen’s interceptions himself.
