What's already a circus of incompetence is going to get more circus and more incompetence You can see why Stefanski looked pissed when they announced the pick. Clearly an owner order, and as soon as the Browns lose a few games you know the talk of Deion becoming their new HC will start. I'd be amazed if that doesn't end up a disaster for them. If he doesn't start the season the chants for him will begin as soon as the starter has a bad game. If he does play well he'll be demanding more money. If he plays and plays badly Deion will say it's because they're not using him the right way. Urgh, definitely a circus waiting to happen 2 Quote
Redblood Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I like the giants offseason so far not crazy about the browns- all they have done is collect qbs that no one wants ( and keeping Garrett was a mistake imo) Quote
CSBill Posted May 1 Posted May 1 The sideshow in Cleveland masquerading as an NFL football team just got more hilarious, so I pick them as the biggest winners and losers in the off-season. Quote
Cray51 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Teams that had bad offseasons: Atlanta - did very little in FA, overpaid for Floyd and Diablo. However, their draft was quite solid. Bengals - nothing to address 0-line, pay a ton to keep Higgins, and their defense is still poor. Drafted Stewart who had no production in college, and nothing else stood out from the draft. They are wasting Burrow's prime years with bad management Browns - bad FA signings, and draft was a cluster Dallas - very middling, expect another 5-7 win season Jets - Fields is your hope and you draft TE early second with other more important options on the board? Expect them to be bad again 2 1 Quote

So who has had the best offseason so far? Who has had the worst? Yeah that is pretty much impossible to pull off when you are in the playoffs every year. You can improve, but most improved usually goes to a non playoff team, at least at this junction of the evaluation period 1 Quote

I can't fault them for doing it as they clearly understand that without an answer, they are finished before they start. Every team that doesn't have certainty at the position should do the same thing. agreed, but not sure you want Sanders when employing a multi-qb strategy 32 minutes ago, Cray51 said: Teams that had bad offseasons: Atlanta - did very little in FA, overpaid for Floyd and Diablo. To add to the two backup QBs they already had..... seriously it's soooo bizarre. I'm pretty confident if it is a genuine competition Sanders will win the job. But I got the strong sense that the GM and HC don't want him to so I doubt it is a genuine competition. Quote
JP51 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I think Cleveland, Miami and Pittsburgh probably the worst... Cleveland because... well they are Cleveland, Miami because it sounds like they have a bit of a locker room issue, Pittsburgh because they are literally in QB hell... I think it gets worse if they sign Rodgers... that will just put off the inevitable... Best I don't know really, I think New England getting adult supervision in their coaching ranks and some very interesting signings may have done well... and I will actually give the Bills some props.. sometimes retaining your own and not losing key players is about as good as anything... 1 Quote
LEBills Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I want to submit Steelers as the weirdest off-season. Pay big bucks for DK to pair with Pickens only to have Mason Rudolph, Will Howard or the ghost of Aaron Rodgers throw to them. 3 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I think the Panthers had a sneaky good off season. They did pay a bit much for some of their FAs, but I think they made up for that with a solid draft. Rams had a good draft and upgraded with Adams. 3 2 Quote
Ralonzo Posted May 1 Posted May 1 The usual suspects drafting the guys I had an eye on - Ravens, Eagles, that goes without saying. The Seahawks grabbed a few of those guys, and again as UDFAs after the draft so I like their haul by and large. The biggest surprise to me was the Raiders, since we usually count on them for making Matt Millen-worthy picks (ht: Walter Football) even when Matt Millen isn't there. But I pretty much loved all their picks: Las Vegas Raiders (11 picks) Round 1, pick 6: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State Round 2, pick 58: Jack Bech, WR, TCU Round 3, pick 68: Darien Porter, CB, Iowa State Round 3, pick 98: Caleb Rogers, OT, Texas Tech Round 3, pick 99: Charles Grant, OT, William & Mary Round 4, pick 108: Dont'e Thornton Jr., WR, Tennessee Round 4, pick 135: Tonka Hemingway, DL, South Carolina Round 6, pick 180: JJ Pegues, DL, Ole Miss Round 6, pick 213: Tommy Mellott, QB, Montana State Round 6, pick 215: Cam Miller, QB, North Dakota State Round 7, pick 222: Cody Lindenberg, LB, Minnesota 2 1 Quote
GunnerBill Posted May 1 Posted May 1 A team that hasn't been mentioned for worst that belongs in the conversation is the 49ers. He is their list of losses since last season: Deebo Samuel - starting WR Aaron Banks - starting LG Javon Hargrave - starting DT Maliek Collins - starting DT Leonard Floyd - starting DE Dre Greenlaw - starting LB Charvarius Ward - starting CB Talanoa Hufanga - starting S That's a ton of talent walking out of the door in one go. They went big on DL in the draft to replenish there but I'm not a huge Mykel Williams guy and I think both of the DTs they took are more 1Ts than the penetrating 3T Robert Saleh's defense needs. But everywhere else I think they are worse. There is a lot riding on McCaffrey and Aiyuk returning to (and maintaining) health otherwise this looks like another season of relative struggle. I don't think they are a playoff team in 2025. 4 3 Quote

You are correct, no one really knows... but what fun would it be on an opinion speculation thread to say... we dont know ask me in 3 years... With respect to the Browns, I am also factoring in the locker room... and despite being terrible, needing to install a new offense with Dorsey gone or go back to Stephanik's... Watson still being there is a permanent stain on this team that keeps giving etc... then drafting 2 QBs , losing Brissett and bringing back Flacco at 78 years old LOL... I just think is a lot of offseason uncertainty to an offense that was very fragile to begin with... Locking up Myles Garrett was a plus... but have they encouraged players to go public to the media to express their displeasure so they can get new contracts... that is a slippery slope... all and all I think Cleveland has a greater chance of getting worse this year than better...
