I think most people don't realize, that Darrelle Revis was under 6 feet tall.  He was also 5'11".

For context: here are there combine numbers

Revis: 5'11.5"     32.5" arms     8.25 hands

Weight 204lbs.

Mad Max:  5'11"      31" arms      8.75 hands

Weight 183lbs,

Height/length is not a problem.  The big difference of course, is weight.  204lbs for a corner, is pretty big and in the upper tier.

Mad Max stated that he's already back up to about 190lbs, and went down in weight, to maximize his 40 time, which we all know was 4.28.  Revis did not run.

That being said, he doesn't need to be a 200lb corner.  If he's in that 190-193lbs range, it would be perfect, in my opinion.  He's still a young guy and won't get that full grown man strength until he's about 25.

It's like in H.S, you don't go for the chick that's already thick, you have to properly project.

Tiny nit to pick but Hairston is 5'11.25".  And I looked at the Pro Bowl CBs from last year and 5'11" was the median height.

I’m still skeptic about Max and I hope he proves me wrong but I didn’t love his film. I thought there were a couple better DB’s and certainly better players in other positions available.

We and Beane cant have Elam 2.0

Not to worry. If he doesn't work out well for us we can always draft another first rond corner to play in a zone in 2026.

I know virtually nothing about what’s been happening in Camp. Is there something that’s made you ‘still’ skeptical?

Don't be hung up on draft position. If you whiff on a 1st but hit a grand slam with your 6th pick, you still did good. Does anything in the world change if Benford was the first and Elam the sixth?

The Benford extension just might have cost more?  🤷‍♂️

Irrelevant to the discussion of Hairston imo and not an excuse if he fails.

If Beane whiffs again on this pick that falls on him

Funny how we hold GMs accountable but not the draft "experts" that rank these players. What was Hairston's draft grade?

Consensus big board had Hairston at 34.

Jahdae Barron and Will Johnson were ranked ahead of him. Barron went at 20, and Will Johnson fell to 47.

Yeah, that Beane misjudged both in the draft 🤣

Im very skeptical of Beane as a drafter, but I think Hairston was worth the pick. Especially if you go back to his 2023 film, he was very good. The worry for me is how slender he is, injuries cut 2024 short and made him more reticent to tackle than he was the prior year.

To sum it up, he was worth it but injuries make it risky

Ben Morrison is apparently looking the part in Tampa. Same with Amos in Washington.

Those were the 2 guys I was hoping they’d go after if they missed out of Barron, which was obviously likely.

Not disappointed with the Hairston selection by any means, I just feel his combine was what drove him that far up the draft boards (second to late first rounder) and not his college tape. I guess the saving grace is he was the part for Kentucky when playing in zone. Something we know McD hangs his hat on.

Yeah my guy was Morrison and I liked Will Johnson but understand the injury stuff with him.

There were about 5 corners to choose from and we pretty much got to make the first pick of them all.  We shall see how it all plays out and if Beane made the right call

I think taking swings on top ten talent that fell for whatever reason is always a good idea.

Will Johnson looks like he’s already won the CB1 job in Arizona.

Who knows how it’ll play out, but it will sting if he becomes a star compared to Max.

No one was doubting Johnson's talent level there was a big medical red flag with him. So it is not surprising he is getting a good start but if he is chronically hurt then we know why he fell. Max looks to having a nice camp esp for a rookie and I would rather have a durable good player than a great player who only plays half a season.

Max just hurt his knee.

Holy crap. It's July 28. Can we we wait just a little bit longer before we start freaking out about a rookie?

This board (or maybe BBMB) were ripping into Darby the same way in his first camp/preseason. Nobody on here knows anything. Legit zero people.
