He played over 900 snaps last season, and now they’re talking about having him return punts as well. Nothing about that strikes me as a team being afraid to use him. What am I missing? Bills fans being nut jobs, nothing out of the norm move along lol 1 Quote

Extremely poor day 1 drafting (except JA) and critical play calls have crushed championship runs. Bills fans want for JA (and tbenselves) what the Chiefs and Eagles have. No, it is pretty much just Bills fans. 1 3 Quote

But, onto your memory, do you remember these forums that year, calling him "Wrong Josh" and a bust? The point to my reply was that a year is nowhere near enough time to fully evaluate a draft pick. It may not be enough for fans, but often it is enough for the team's management who see the guy in practice every day. Arizona couldn't wait to dump Josh Rosen after his rookie year. I'm guessing the thing that got Kingsbury the HC job was he wanted to install an offense that wasn't suited to Josh Rosen (although it turned out no NFL offense was). Marrone was basically done with EJ after his rookie year & quit as soon as Orton did instead of coaching EJ another season. Quote

So the reason he wasn’t returning punts last year was because of injury concerns as those other two weren’t around. It really isn’t that complicated. with him having 900 snaps and very limited depth remaining at WR 1 Quote

So they’d risk more exposure if they had put him on punt returns. This season they can afford to do that because of other guys returning. That was my original point of the coaching staff not wanting him to return punts last year because they couldn’t afford to lose him. And how would they potentially lose him if he returned punts? Injury concerns. Why are we still going round and round on this? Quote

I think it’s just a matter of is he an injury risk in a unique way, or is it just basic risk management of it being a huge drop off Josh isn’t an injury risk, in general but you protect him because of the drop in this case I don’t think the worry was hugely worthys injury risk so much as the room being depleted and only putting so much on a young guys plate 2 Quote

Is this all of it? That’s where I differ. Him being 160lbs is a factor in my imo. It (injury) hasn’t happened doesn’t mean it can’t and won’t. Just from a logical standpoint a guy that’s 190lb could take more of a hit than a slighter guy at 160lb. I do think he could be electric as a punt returner with his speed. It’ll be interesting to see what happens. Quote

I don't think that I would hold up the Arizona FO and coaching staff or the pre-McDermott/Beane Bills FO and coaches as organizations to copy. In fact, doing just opposite -- giving draft picks, especially high draft picks, time to develop -- is a hallmark of good organizations. Quote

They had horrible scouts & it didn't take the coaching staffs long to figure they had drafted a QB bust. You can't develop a guy who sucks, and it's usually the coaching staff that sees the guy more than anyone else, practicing all week, that realizes the guy has nothing long before the fans who see him once a week, at best, do. Even the worst coaches know a player who has nothing. Quote
