At least the #2 seed in the AFC in the bag now?

Not going to take beating the Patriots or Jets for granted.  I think they'll both be playing hard as spoilers.  But it's pretty safe to be confident the Bills will win out.

 

It beats last year where it came down to the Dolphins game last year for the #2 seed.

That very well could’ve been for making/missing the playoffs for us but we got so much help the last few weeks

Not quite...the Steelers if they were going to lose to a team and go 3-1 would have wanted to lose to the Eagles because of the Conference record being the first time breaker.

 

Bills would obviously need to lose again for it to matter tho and they would have to keep winning.

this is what I am rooting for. I would rather see the chiefs lock up the 1 seed, and Steelers lose one more. That should let us rest week 18, assuming the next two are W’s.

Exactly. Chiefs losing 2 out of 3 seems unlikely to me.

So the next best thing would them to lock up the 1 seed so bills can rest their starters

I can absolutely see the Chiefs potentially lose at the Steelers and at the Broncos. Add in the fact that Mahomes is injured and they have a short week against the Texans this week. I want the one seed and get the rest during the bye.

1 seed would be nice, but I think realistic chances ended with the loss to LAR. Looks like the Bills will probably be the 2 seed again.

I see what you're saying, but I don't think so myself. TJ watt might be out that game as well as he has an injury.

 

I would say it's "possible" to your point, but unlikely IMO

If Bills and Steelers are tied, Steelers get tie-breaker edge based on conference record.  Bills are 4-1 against NFC ( losing to rams) Steelers are 3-2 ( losing to eagles and cowboys) thus if tied, steelers would have better conference record.

 

right now Bills magic # for seed #2 — would be 3 wins or steeler loses but they also need to be above houston and  Baltimore in standings. Bills W 3 to get to 13 guarenteed thst.

 

over the next 2 week—-Bills WW, Steelers L one to either balt or KC

 

if Steelers lose to balt next week and both WW the Steelers would win division based on common games record.

Texans are so bad. They will beat them with or without Mahomes. 
 

@steelers and @ broncos are both like 55/45 chiefs IMO. I don't see them dropping both

I like this Steelers team, but they are very likely to go 0-3 or 1-2 in their last three games. Two hard division games and a game against the chiefs.

Bills in good position to get the two seed, I think all the Bills need to do is win 2 out of 3? With the bad divisional opponents 2 out of 3 is a good margin for error.

If the Texans can somehow get by the Chiefs with an injured Mahomes, it becomes a really strong possibility that they could end up in the 3 seed instead of the North Champion

Last year was bonkers in the AFC. Going into the weekend the Bills were anywhere from  division champs and the two seed or out of the playoffs all together.

 

Totally opposite this year. Bills clinch division with 5 games to go and the AFC playoff field could all be decided with two games to go with just the seeding to be sorted out.

I think we can finish 3-0 w/o having to play every single starter. Maybe selectively rest a few players each game. Now that the playoffs and basically the 2 seed should be secure, we can have the luxury of a little load management.

Division games are weird. We could lose any of them. Remember when the Browns beat the Steelers a few weeks ago?
