That's why I'm glad they re-signed Johnson. Ask McD and Brady. They rarely used Johnson--even as a Breather for Cook (going with Murray instead). Or ask the Jets--they dumped him the season before (at a whopping 5.3 YPC!!). Or Detroit.... Johnson's yards per carry are from samples sizes so small that they are mostly meaningless. The fact that he averaged 22 inches more per carry than Murray doesn't move the needle. Clearly it didn't warrant more touches, and it hasn't throughout his career. This guy has been on a few bad RB rosters---and he still couldn't separate himself from the pack in the RB room. I get it--he's a cheap guy to send in for 3 plays a game to give Cook a rest. He's an RB3 likely making vet minimum. If that was your argument -- "he's no more than an RB3", then you should have just said that from the jump instead of talking about Latavius Murray and Devin Singletary and Zack Moss and who deserved touches in the offense. If your point is "he's an RB3, he's nothing too special", then I agree. I think he's a pretty GOOD RB3, which is why I like the cheap re-signing, but he's an RB3 nonetheless. I was mainly responding to the claim that this guy could be a RB! on other teams, which is absurd. As a (previous) RB on bad running teams, he couldn't get past bad RB2's. I will take elite offensive line versus spending any significant dollars at the RB position. If they don't come cheap then draft and replace. Safe, dependable, runs hard, etc. If you could combine his intangibles with Cook's talent, we'd have a perfect back. and i don't dislike cook. but he's impossible to trust. edit: just looked at his numbers, and maybe im remembering stuff that's not real. 7 catches in the regular season. 1 post season. 1 fumble.
