Chicken Boo
Expecting Lamar to play with a bum knee is exactly how you cut a players career short. He says there's still inflammation and I'm sure team doctors are evaluating him. Why would anyone doubt that he's truly injured?

The initial MRI missed his partially torn ACL. Medicine is an art. It's entirely possible that Jackson's injury was initially forecast to be 1-2 weeks, then 2 weeks went by and it's still swollen and there's still laxity in there. One doctor says "we can tape you and put on a brace and give you a shot and get you back out there, there's a risk but there's always a risk". Another doctor says "while there's this much laxity in your knee and this much swelling, you're at significantly higher risk for blowing out your whole knee, even with a brace" Lamar goes with the 2nd doctor, and the Ravens go with the first. It's Lamar's right under the CBA to have an independent medical opinion on an injury, and follow that medical advice. Sure, that's possible. That certainly isn't the vibe that we're getting from Ravens-land though. I don't recall any Bills players calling out Von Miller for dogging it, after all. That should tell you something. 34 minutes ago, PetermansRedemption said: Because Sammy Watkins is known as “Mr Available” due to his iron man streak 🙄 Another way to frame this is "Even Sammy Watkins questions Lamar's toughness." The Ravens were never close to extending Jackson last offseason, leading to Jackson playing out his $23 million fifth-year option. That backfired for Jackson, who finished the year injured for the second straight season. Jackson is asking for Deshaun Watson money, a fully guaranteed deal that would make him one of the league's highest paid quarterbacks. The Ravens are "still all-in" on Jackson and plan to franchise him for 2023 if they can't work out a long-term extension. Very intelligent response by the Ravens. #8 becomes the next Kirk Cousins. For anyone who doesn't know, PCL stands for posterior cruciate ligament which, like ACL or anterior cruciate ligament, are two ligaments that criss-cross in the interior of the knee and stabilize it. The posterior collateral ligament and lateral collateral ligament are important, but because they go down the inside and outside of the knee, their function is easier to replace with a brace. It's confusing because they all have "C" in there but the "C" stands for different positions/functions. And Sorry Not Sorry to Mike Vick, but no one on earth, Ever, should accept career advice from this guy. I hate it that he still has a platform. I mean, he's also a guy who tweeted about being an incredibly powerful solar lizard being. So the "soft" isn't limited to the body, although, in fact, his body with GB did look soft, as though he were trying to convert to TE. The difference to me is judgement call. Von Miller is 100% "No". Lamar Jackson's injury is probably one where he could slap a brace on it and play, albeit hindered and at significant risk of shredding his knee completely like RGIII did. I think credible NFL players who aren't soft in the body and thinking about Solar Lizard Beings recognize that and don't call a teammate out 35 minutes ago, papazoid said: players play thru injury all the time. how many times have we heard....well, dr's say it can't get any worse. it's just a matter of pain management now.....and they play. how many times have we heard...well, if this was a playoff game, he'd be in the lineup. it's impossible for fans to know who is legit too injured and who is so called protecting their future...."it's a business decision". just seems to me those who have guaranteed money the following season are more likely to play injured in the current playoff cycle than those who are about to be a free agent with no guarantees. Given Lamar's injury combined with a playing style based on escapability and mobility, it's probably NOT legit to say "it can't get any worse, it's just a matter of pain management" It probably is legit to speculate that Lamar might make a different decision if he were signed to a long term contract with big guarantees. Part of that is the knowledge that the team would have "skin in the game" of the decision to play or not to play - if they're gonna pay him the Big Bucks in full for the next 2 years whether he sits in the training room rehabbing his shredded knee or leads them on the field, maybe the team FO views the playing decision differently. Again there is no other reason for a guy who hasn't even been with the team for 4 weeks to put out a statement like that if his teammates and coaches think he can't play at all.
