A good RB can make a bad oline look average to good. If you are dodging players in the backfield 50% of the time I am not sure what you expect the RBs to do. A lot of it starts with missed details by the OLine on a play, especially when they run inside zone blocks...they are missing details that cause the play to get blown up. Case in point, Saffold is supposed to flow to his right and Dawkins has a reach block to make on his guy. However, based on where the DT lines up on Morse, Saffold needed to chip him for a split second to give Dawkins time to get there and make the block. Dawkins is expecting help on the play, Saffold doesn't give it to him and the DT goes upfield before Dawkins can get there and tackles Singletary for a 2 yard loss. The play was blocked very well by Davis and Dawkins and Singletary had a big crease to run through for at least 8 yards. But one missed detail and understanding how your assignment changes based on defensive alignment by Saffold turned it into a 2 yard loss. That's where they are failing up front with a lot of these blocking assignments...they aren't executing details right. Because Davis is our best blocking WR by a country mile and with Kumerow down there isn't anyone on the roster with anything close to his skillset.
