Ugh, January is going to be a really tough month to navigate around the league. It will be interesting.

They need to Sequester the entire team to the team facilities for the playoffs. Family can visit after tested....

Not even joking. Watch a few high valued players miss playoff games. Seems like the smart thing to do for a SB title

You have to wonder if riding the pine makes it a little less incentivizing to be completely locked down/careful.

Remember.   These guys have families...wives, kids.  There is only so much you can do if wives work.  Kroft has a new baby.   Doctor visits, etc.  Any place where you are in contact with anyone for 15 minutes or more puts you at risk.

Two things I wonder about:

1) will they stop the needless hand shaking after games .. it is bizarre how they have all these protocols in place but then after the game they are hugging and otherwise getting close to the other team. Simply maddening.
2) will players who already tested positive be exempt from the close contact protocol?

i have been saying the same thing about number 1. At least, wear a mask!  Not only that— but I think the players still do those prayer huddles after the game.

I think it would be better and safer for each team to basically say— no interactions with the other team or coaches pre or post game.

Well, I guess this should remind the rest of the team not let down their guard.

Personally, I wouldn’t object if some vaccine fell off the back of a truck at OBD.

I know where you're coming from. Trouble is, it still takes 21 days to become effective I believe. At this point in proceedings, it's not worth the trouble tbh - the season is going to be mostly over bar the SB itself, by the time it might help.

I have to say I really thought that was going to be a huge problem in college this year with walk-ons.  You're the 17th LB on the depth chart at Alabama (and yes there actually is a 17th LS there and believe I saw 3 long snappers too) how motivated is that person going to be to stay clean.  Thought they should have dumped all the walk-ons, but didn't seem to affect them any worse

I'm sorry but being prior military, I've had lengthy TDY's and numerous separations from my family for the mission.

These guys are millionaires.

They can "Rough it" for a month and go on lock down.

I understand your point and appreciate your service....but one difference you may be overlooking is that you signed on, knowing TDY you would not see your family.

The NFL and NFLPA negotiated how the season would work and explicitly excluded a bubble or lockdown.  So saying to them "lockdown now" would be changing the terms of their employment.  Maybe they'd agree, but the NFL isn't the military, and they can't just dictate or change the terms unilaterally.  The players have got to buy in.

It's also not likely for a lockdown or bubble to be effective unless you also lockdown all the staff who have player contact - trainers, medical, coaches, I'm not sure who all.  You gotta know this, you're only as strong as your weakest link.

Yeah just a few years back I spent 210 days in Iraq for an extra $3.50 a day....

I say for the playoffs either sequester the team to the facility or limit them from home and the facility. Test family members as well.

I want this team 100% for the next 35 days.

Could you imagine a team losing big names players in the playoffs? They can all lay low, restrict themselves and family members. I know some may have jobs, maybe subject them to testing periodically as well.

This has to be a conversation of every team in the league right now, asking the question, “what are the team playoff rules and restrictions gonna look like to ensure no issues for the next 30+ days”

I'm also prior military.  I'm not suggesting that the players shouldn't isolate even from their families.  I'm merely suggesting that in the case of those with families, it's harder to isolate.  In Kroft's case, we don't know his particular set of circumstances.  Does his wife need assistance, for example, with the baby?   I don't think the team is requiring it, and each player and coach has to weigh for himself what they are willing to sacrifice in pursuit of a championship.
