Trump’s Already Gaming Out a 2024 Run—Including an Event During Biden’s Inauguration

RUN IT BACK

He’s not yet conceded 2020 but is already looking at keeping Republicans in line and making Biden’s life miserable.

In the twilight of his presidency, Donald Trump is discussing different ways to disrupt the impending Joe Biden era, chief among them by announcing another run against him.

According to three people familiar with the conversations, the president, who refuses to acknowledge he lost the 2020 election as he clearly did, has not just talked to close advisers and confidants about a potential 2024 run to reclaim the White House but about the specifics of a campaign launch. The conversations have explored, among other things, how Trump could best time his announcement so as to keep the Republican Party behind him for the next four years. Two of these knowledgeable sources said the president has, in the past two weeks, even floated the idea of doing a 2024-related event during Biden’s inauguration week, possibly on Inauguration Day, if his legal effort to steal the 2020 election ultimately fails.

If he wants to run a third party he is more than welcome to :)

He will also need to escape the legal charges he faces after he becomes a private citizen again...

He can use the publicity of his legal problems to his advantage. The Deep State is out to get him. Good luck finding a jury to find him guilty.

The Trump movement is alive and well.  The trick will be finding someone with similar policies that is more palatable to the American public.  Eighty million people voted mostly to not have to deal with four more years of hearing Trump's name every time they turned on the tv.

Unlike what his campaign has been putting in front of Judges this last month, I believe the State of New York will have ....what's the word I'm looking for....oh yeah!....Evidences !!

True, but the most important part of a trail, is the jury. Just look at the Senate as an extreme example. There was plenty of evidence Trump is unfit for office, but 70 million Americans voted for the idiot.

I mean it's possible but part of the job vetting a jury that they do before trials is seeing if they have a bias and if they'd convict someone of the crime on trial if proven to them.

Trump is tearing the republican party into two... This is extremely good for democrats. All the democrats have to do is not ***** it up and they could have a decade of dominance.

No he isn't.  They just need to find somebody that pushes the same agenda that doesn't retweet Quanon tweets at three in the morning or calls athletes who kneel SOB's.

There's more of a schism with the Democrat party.  They under performed down ballot.  They were supposed to take the Senate.  They didn't.  They were supposed to gain seats in the House.  They didn't.  Eighty million Americans finally said enough of this Trump guy and voted for the guy who wasn't Trump because he's a sane moderate.  However, they made a statement voting for a Republican down ballot (or just voting for Biden).  Dems better get their crap together or they're going to be wiped out in 2022 and 2024.  That means getting rid of Pelosi and finding a Speaker to stand up and distance themselves from the more radical part of the party.

I do remember thinking one of my bigger worries would be that someone far more competent would follow in Trumps absurd footsteps. I would say though that some of that conspiracy talk and railing against athletes kneeling is a part of what makes him so popular. He's a populist he gains popularity by firing up his supporters against an other a kind of enemy people can blame their problems on which falls into a shadowy government conspiracies or rich athletes.

So if Trump doesn’t go away is that good or bad for Dems? Will be interesting to see if Republicans can find a disciplined Trump like person to run.

The down ballot flop for Dems could get better or worse with the Georgia run off. If the Dems get beat up there then Biden has no agenda to govern with, really. He will be a lame duck place holder which might actually help hold the house in 2022 and who knows about the senate.

A double win in Georgia and the Dems might have a civil war. I mean what will they put at the front of their agenda? Cl8mate change? Health care? Probably economic relief which will be expensive and Republicans can attack. The country just wants to get back to normal but climate change needs addressed. But with half the country thinking it’s a another civil hoax, good luck with that.

The jury selection process actually can be used to find jurors WITH biases. It only takes one juror to not want to convict. The OJ legal team used computers back in the 90’s to find the right jurors, think how much more info they have now!

If Trump is not in prison and alive in 2024, he will be the nominee, again, if he so desires. If he doesn't want it, bet on his backing either Don Jr. or Ivanka, and whomever he supports will get the nomination.

The only funny thing about this is that idiots like Marco Rubio have cut their own throats as far as their own political aspirations.

Remember that Trump cult members are total morons. If Trump was in prison, they would still vote for him.

The trial would be held in the SDNY -- New York City and environs -- where even a jury of Manhattan millionaires would likely find him guilty of whatever the AG or DA charged him with even without evidence because ol' Covid Donnie has cheated and defrauded so many of them or their families or friends.

This is an interesting observation...I, agree to some extent...I wonder, however, if it goes a little further than that...

There definitely seems to be a restructuring going on.  But I almost think it is happening in both parties.

You have the “Never Trump” Republicans that seem to be teaming up with Democrats.  And then you have long time “Old School” Democrats that seem to be teaming up with Republicans. Then you have Trump, himself, who used to be a Democrat, but is now a Republican...

So, in a way, I agree with what you said.  There definitely seems to be movement taking place...But I think it might be both parties that are re-evaluating their ideologies...

I mostly agree with this...but I am not sure about the last part.  Not saying Pelosi doesn't have to go...but what do you do?  That radical part of the party is a pretty substantial part of the party.  Without them, it is another 4 years of Trump.  To be honest, I think she did a pretty admirable job, under the circumstances. I know she is blamed in large part for the party underperforming, but the party is just as fractured as the Repbublican party, in many ways.  It wasn't 2 days after  Biden was projected winner,  that the divisions only got wider.  I would like to see somebody younger, who has the skill to make some of those "radical" positions of the far left a more maistream part of the party. If that doesn't happen, the Dems lose the White House in 2024.  The things that are so "radical" shouldn't really be all that conrtoversial.  Dems have always done a poor job of messaging...

He's unique in that he somehow has the ability to bring out low propensity voters to vote for him and even more low propensity voters to vote against him.  That's why you had record turnout this election.  I think if a more palatable Trump like figure with the same populist agenda would win in 2024 rather easily if the economy enters even a mild recession.

People don't want to hear things like "defund the police" and "green new deal" in the middle of a pandemic.  Biden only won because he was viewed as a moderate candidate as the Trump team failed in their efforts to paint him as a trojan horse to the radical left.  Biden's platform was fine.

One thing the Democrats now have is a news media that will give Democrats more coverage and won't be focused solely on Trump.  First priority should be assisting small businesses and the unemployed until the vaccine is widely distributed enough so we can get back to a normal life.  The Republicans will be brutal in the Senate at agreeing with any bill Biden in the House try to pass as they were rewarded for being unprecedented obstructionists under Obama.  Biden is somehow going to have to use the bully pulpit to get a deal done.

I mostly agree but I do think some of his unpalatability is what rallies his supporters to an extent.

They definitely shouldn't of called it "defund the police" that was an obvious mistake makes people think you're promoting lawlessness. I understand why calling it "police reform" wasn't ideal either as it has apparently come to mean broken promises in some communities. I think a better term and honestly more accurate would of been "police restructuring". The "green new deal" is tougher republicans did a good job of taking a goal list and pretending like it was actual policy ideas. I think the best thing they could do is come up with some actual less extreme potential policy changes to fight climate change and come up with their own name.

I honestly hope if republicans maintain control of the Senate, which is likely despite Trump disenfranchising voters with his fraud claims, that they're able to work with Democrats to get some things done. Otherwise it's just going to be more of them being complete obstructionists and the Democrats putting things in front of them to make them look terrible for doing it or at least that'd be their logical plan.

IMO there's no such thing as a Trump-like figure.

He's a one-off. Not since Huey P Long. The things that make him so popular, omni-present and hard to beat are his mastery of public relations and his outsider status. There's nobody else out there like that in politics. If there were, he or she would be president if Democrat or a massive and unmistakable figure waiting in the wings and ready to step in if Republican.

Exactly and Biden did that to a certain extent as he called for reforming the police by calling for additional funding for police for mental health training.  Just the "defunding the police" slogan stuck with the Dems and Republicans were successful in exploiting that message.  Same thing with the green new deal. "Free college" also stuck with their socialist message the Republicans pushed.  It's why I think the Dems disappointed down ticket.

You may be right and it's why he could easily be nominated again in 2024.  Can there be Trumpism without Trump?  Probably not.  Reagan is pry the most apt comparison but he was an ideologue whereas Trump just told people what they wanted to here.  In this case the far right.  His inability to even attempt to appeal to anyone outside his base cost him reelection and I think the sober Trump supporters who aren't convinced the election was stolen from him recognize this.

Maybe I'm just too cynical from the Obama years but maybe they can get a couple Republicans to get them to get something done through reconciliation.  A public option seems off the table assuming a Republican wins one of the Georgia special Senate elections.

I agree the Dems let the Republicans paint them into what they wanted them to be seen as far too much and I think that was definitely a symptom of Biden being a very poor candidate. He didn't drive the vote with his ideas he just so happened to have an opponent that drove turnout for him better than himself. But beyond that Dems have let Republicans paint them as socialists far too freely it's gotten so bad that I'm depressed at how many people don't seem to know what the word means. It's an interesting needle they have to thread they need to find a good candidate that can push things closer towards the far left without going too far to be able energize there party. Trumps about to be gone and that's a major battery that's about to be unplugged.

The two things I'd worry about is that multiple populists have occurred at the same time, I know it's kind of comparing him to dictators but they were populists and Hitler and Mussolini were around at the same time. Hell we had McCarthy not that long after. I wouldn't just rule it out, but beyond that someone else could use Trump as a blueprint and I'm not sure someone who didn't believe their own hype pretending wouldn't be much worse.

It's hard to say things have been bad for a while the series of events with Obama, the recession, and the Tea Party movement have resulted in some dumb partisanship. Sadly this is probably going rely heavily on how things shake out with settling into a post Trump reality.

That is exactly what I meant, their messaging is horrible... this has always been an issue with Democrats, even when they are pushing something that most people (R's and D's) would get behind.

Biden turned 78 after the election.  Trump will be 78 during the election campaign, so he would be the oldest.   More to the point, Biden is in good physical condition for a 77 year old, as evidenced by his trim physique and the fact that he bikes regularly.   Trump is obese and doesn't exercise except to walk from his golf cart to his golf ball and back 9 or 18 times when he golfs.   He also apparently had some visible physical impairments when he visited West Point back in the spring.   I don't think Trump's physical health will enable him to make another presidential run, especially if he's put under stress from the state criminal and civil legal cases that are likely to plague him for the next few years.

We all new this would happen...if he doesn't try a coup.

He makes himself and many republicans look like a desperate joke. Imagine the next great tv show..."Conversations with trump and Rudy at the home." Matching rocking chairs, nurse Hariet, Dr. Ben Casey.

The late night comics need trump, hope he stays around so we can continue to laugh and remind him HE LOST.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I wouldn't underestimate this. I mean it sounds crazy but there are those who are ready to bear arms over this president and the perceived unfairness of the election under the guise of fighting a righteous battle against tyranny. Im not making this up. If you sign up and read the election and fraud threads at the board which was formed as a venue for displaced posters from here its right there in print. Wether they are keyboard warriors or not is the question but the truth is both sides have their zealots and I wouldn't put it past Donald Trump to incite his more radical diehard followers to attempt a coup.......i wouldnt have thought it possible if I hadnt read it myself. Our country is a divided mess right now.

So Sidney Powell sues Republicans BRIAN KEMP; BRAD RAFFENSPERGER; DAVID J. WORLEY; REBECCA N. SULLIVAN; MATTHEW MASHBURN; and ANH LE, for Election fraud and wants the vote counting machines to be forensically examined. Captain Ahab would be proud of this fishing expedition. What I like is the fact that they claim the vote counts are fraudulent and inaccurate yet seek an order requiring Gov. Kemp to transmit certified election results that state Trump is the winner - huh?

Georgia did a laborious hand recount and that was not enough to satisfy the Trump cult. They now want a machine recount, but do not trust the machines, and that is not enough, they want the machines to be examined by GOP experts. Of course election workers at the county were like, "what do you want us to do??" and began resetting the machines to "0" so they could begin the machine-based recount, but Sidney Powell files an injunction to stop resetting machines and preserve the prior data - I am guessing preserving original ballot totals in the machines....all this seems designed to try to prevent electors from certifying and casting the GA votes for Biden.

A judge steps in and at first issues the injunction to preserve the voting machines, then reverses the injunction on the grounds that Sidney Powell did not have valid defendants listed (should have the election boards from counties in question - assuming just those Trump lost), then later he reissued an injunction. Meanwhile all those recount poll workers are in a holding pattern while this farce plays out.

Plaintiffs being a collection of scam artist and cobbled together Trump zeolots....

They filed an injunction against their own recount?

Come On What GIF by MOODMAN - Find & Share on GIPHY

I mean a hand audit of the paper ballots makes this entirely irrelevant anyway.

I am not sure the judge understands how these Dominion machines (ImageCast X in Georgia's case) work.

A voter makes their electronic choices and a paper copy of their choices is printed and uniquely linked to the electronic record. The person casting their vote then verifies their paper copy reflects the choices they made electronically and they give that to a poll worker. The paper ballot totals are the audit gold standard to verify that the electronic totals match.

That whole Democracy Suite of voting products from Dominion is federally certified and they used the same systems in their primaries sans all the sudden fraud drama. Per Dominion's site: Every Dominion system is certified by federal and state election authorities for use, and we make continuous improvements to our products throughout their lifecycle.

So yeah, I am not sure what they would be looking for and why a judge would entertain this nonsense.

I have said on this site for months that he wants to get to January before the coup begins. Suddenly Biden is charged by Justice dept. Maybe an armed conflict in the world, a bow for fixing the pandemic and 401ks in good shape.

Seems like a recipe for postponing Jan 20th. He already has Supreme court, fired key people from CIA and FBI, replaced Def dept peeps.....all part of the coup plan.

Trump is tearing the republican party into two... This is extremely good for democrats. All the democrats have to do is not ***** it up and they could have a decade of dominance.

It would be nice if they could work together for the betterment of all and just interject a little common sense !

The reason why the gov't and the country is so divided is because none of the politicians have the balls to to anything other than the same ole crap lets just follow the map laid out .

The life long politicians and others behind the curtain don't care about any of us as the people or the country they live in and the foundations that were laid out that made this country as great as it once was . It's all about what they can do for them to stay in office for the long run so they get their free stuff .

Have you ever known a life long politician to complain about anything after they leave office ? No because it's all at our expense they all get real comfy and quite after they leave with all their free stuff until it's time to vote to keep the free bees coming for those that do or don't vote .

America has become lazy just ask a young American born and bread of any color to put down their iphone or iPad long enough to do manual labor there are a few out there (thank you to those parents) but not as many as there once was because they have learned or been taught to manipulate (or vote) for what they can get for "FREE"  !

Sure there are those that we need to help that have a debilitating disease or some kind of health issue which is no fault of their own those folks truly need our help .

It use to be if you wanted to do better or make more money you got another job, worked longer hrs or just showed your company that you were a good worker and worth getting raises from your good work ethic then the person that is not motivated to do any better gets pissed and believes they should get the same even if they don't work for it .

Now it's all about what can i get for free ! From what i was taught nothing is ever free it all comes at a cost or sacrifice of some kind !

It's FREE health care, FREE college, FREE SS, FREE citizenship or how many texts can i get away with while i'm on the clock while getting paid or how can i sneak off and take a nap while at work and still get paid for it ?

It's no longer what Kennedy said  "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" It is now the exact opposite !

Ask not what you can do for the country but what the country can do for you  !  Todays new age way of thinking .

That's why the country and politicians are so divided because there is a bunch of old school people that got what they have by hard work or getting a good education and being responsible and paying for it then there are those that were raised with this new age thinking . Refer to the sentence before this one .

JMHO !
