You are dense.  Sending any former POTUS to jail opens the door for future attempts regardless of what party the President belongs to.  Talking about jailing a POTUS plays great to the base but even the dumbest politician knows that no such attempt will ever be made because it invites blowback.

Okay...I figured my response would clue you in that I was half-joking about him going to jail.  He won't go to jail...but he is very likely to spend the rest of his miserable life in litigation.

All these MAGA/KAG/hateful losers are going to disavow Trump so fast it’s going to make our heads spin.  But I’m with you.  I have nothing against Republicans.  They’re good people who see the world differently from me.  That’s fine.  I have a problem with Trumpers, and that’s going to linger for a long, long, long time.

What if the former POTUS committed a crime that carries a penalty of mandatory incarceration?

My entire family in WNY - all Republicans - voting Biden. They can’t stand Trump and his non stop nonsense.

I think the d-bag might end up in the can.  Prior to now I would have agreed with the cult member who earlier said that we shouldn’t set a precedent of incarcerating former POTUSes.  In a perfect world, he would totally right.   But this is different because this d-bag tried to elevate himself above the law, and above the Constitution, and we have to demonstrate to ourselves that nobody, not even this loser cult leader, is above the law.

Which Democratic cities are those?  I’m looking out the window in Buffalo and there is nary a puff of smoke.  Any places that I should avoid?

I mean, I know Atlanta was reduced to ashes.  But that was during the the Civil War, which was a long time ago, and the burning was done to defeat the racists, not by the racists.  So if there’s any other places that are on fire now or were reduced to ashes recently that also happen to be big cities run by and populated by Democrats, please let me know.

I’m serious.  And cautious.  And I don’t want to go to a place that’s on fire, irrespective of whether it’s run by Democrats or Republicans.  I also don’t want to make travel plans and discover upon arrival that my destination has been reduced to ashes.  So could you PLEASE do a brother a favor and clue me in to the democratic big cities that are burning or that have recently burned to the ground?

I don't expect anyone to kiss anyone's ass and you may be right about Trump saying shyt he shouldn't have, but Obama's speeches are EVERY bit as divisive as you think Trump's are.

How is Obama helping the country again with his post-Presidential speeches again?

First, Obama has been mostly very  quiet, and he has never been very direct in his criticisms of Trump (until last night), but rather tried to appeal to those around him to come to their senses and stop ignoring what is going on. Reminding people (those that supported him) what American values are.  To remember those things when they go to vote...or maybe more importantly, decide if they will vote at all.  Obama has never resorted to Trump level garbage.

People are asked to speak at these events to wield whatever influence they may have over some segment of the voters. That is common of both party conventions.  Obama and Trump couldn't be more diametrically opposed.  Why would you expect Obama to dance around that at an event that is supposed to be drumming up support for the opposing candidate?

His speeches help the country, if Trump is not re-elected. It is pretty simple, really.

Just called AAA.  Still standing.  And Amazon and Microsoft HQ are in good shape.  Also checked with my brother; DC decidedly has not burned to the ground.  Called my dudes in NYC that I work with, too.  They made it in without wearing fire boots today.  So they’re all good.  Looks like your claim of burning cities was just another Trump hoax!

I’d like to think.  But if it’s run by Democrats, according to you it may be on fire.  Can you confirm that Fantasy Land is not on fire?  Also maybe, since you’re a hopeless hoaxer, I would see you there!

Just like Jerry Nadler, you think the rioting in these big cities are a hoax.

How about all the small business owners who have lost their businesses over these riots? I guess you could care less about them.

Fantasy Land is supposed to be a nice place, so I highly doubt a Demonrat would be running it.

Nope. You said burned to the ground.  That’s not rioting.  So I ask again: which American cities have recently been burned to the ground?

Whelp. Barack Obama is still tedious, still a liar, and still accuses others of what he actually did.

Millions of Americans right now are thinking 'I'd forgotten how dismissive and insulting Obama was. I don't miss it.'

Obama says Trump hasn't "grown into the job."

He says this after his administration spied on Trump, and within days of Trump surprising the world with the Israel-UAE peace deal. That deal is changing politics in the Middle East for the better. The latest, Sudan and Israel are hammering out a deal for normalized relations.

It's Obama who never grew into the presidency and going by tonight's evidence he hasn't grown into the post-presidency either.

Obama’s DNC speech was vicious, dishonest, and mostly about Obama

by Andrea Widburg

Original Article

Michelle Obama famously said, “When they go low, we go high.” She should have reminded her husband before he gave his speech for the online Democrat convention. Standing in a room in Philadelphia, with the words “Writing the Constitution” over his right shoulder, Obama gave a speech that almost wholly ignored Biden, whom he’d ostensibly come to praise. Instead, Obama viciously attacked Trump and did a constitutional rewrite that allowed him to cast Trump as a constitutional threat. From the start, Obama was up to his old tricks. Even while he wanted to use the Constitution to challenge Trump, he couldn’t praise it.

I’d say that in the past 4 years the only positive to come out of the overwrought reaction to Trump being in the White House has been more democracy, not less.  Congress has started to take back its role after abdicating to the executive branch.  The judiciary is using its ability to pare back overreach.  More activists have found voices and are actually participating in the system, including running for local office to make a difference. If it wasn’t for hyperbole and protests that have gone too far one could easily see it. I disagree that our democracy needs to be rescued.  If Obama was talking about the potential erosion of democracy if Trump gets 4 more years then Obama was simply fear-mongering, and I think that’s irresponsible of him.

Apparently you haven’t heard of the national emergency declaration to build the wall.  Or the executive order approach of the “Art of the Deal” president.  Sounds to me like presidential power is growing and Congressional power is diminishing.  Which is, you know, contrary to the Constitution and also anti-democratic.  So there’s that.

I came on here to see what the MAGA hat wearing clowns thought about Obama’s speech last night and I haven’t been surprised. The speech was eloquent and poignant. Of course, he criticized Trump, deservedly so. However, his big ask was to get out and to vote. If there is a problem with that, you need to look inside and figure out what really makes you an American. Is it a sense of entitlement? Then go out and use the vote you’re entitled to. Is it a sense of pride? Then vote for the candidate that will make you more proud to be an American. If that’s the orange man, and that is your version of who America is, then that’s who you will vote for. Just get out there and vote and exercise your right as a democratic citizen.Denying that was a well prepared and well placed speech during the Democratic national convention just is ridiculous.

I find it a little more than humorous that the very people that are demanding others to exclaim “Black Lives Matter“ are the same ones that claim “everything is fine” in the cities that are democratically run.  The same cities where innocent black lives are lost disproportionately to any other.  You just said that you spoke to your friends in those cities and everything is fine.  If I were to guess, I’d imagine your friends (like you) aren’t accounting for the broken lives that are crumbling in those cities.  Easy to turn a blind eye to the massive injustices that are ACTUALLY happening in these cities when you can just keep your distance while screaming black lives matter.

All black lives matter.  Not just the ones that fit your bases narrative.

Nope.  You said that rioters have burned several cities to the ground.  Things look pretty copacetic outside my Buffalo window, and it turns out that things are also pretty copacetic in other places, too.  So it looks like your hysteria about things being burned to the ground is just another hoax.

I believe that the previous poster is stating that the Black Lives Matter movement is a political movement and is used to discredit certain factions, including the police. Actually, most particularly the police. He, or she, seems to be interested in having the Black Lives Matter movement include those affected by crime in the democratically lead cities. I can get behind that. So, Black Lives Matter.
