He wasn’t super productive for a player with his number of starts, but he leaves Boston College as one of only seven tight ends to reach the 1,000-yard receiving mark. With an average athletic profile, Sweeney almost always has a defender on his hip, but he catches everything thrown his way with terrific focus and sticky hands away from his frame. While competitive as a blocker, he isn’t powerful and has little margin of error with his fundamentals. Overall, Sweeney is a tough, well-rounded “Y” tight end, but nothing about his game is exceptional, projecting as an NFL reserve who will need to compete for a backup role.
