I teach high school and we have all been told the same thing since I started 10 years ago, don't discuss your marriage with your children. Everyone can mention their spouse and have pictures of their family on their desks, we are actually encouraged to have some personal items in the room. Simply don't discuss your marriage, or dating life, which sadly had to made law for elementary teachers. And yes there are a few teachers who can't understand how to be professional in front of their students. Update: I just clicked on link again and the article has completely changed, they also have a new quote "Ollendorff told Insider his responses were taken out of context, and provided the new memo as clarification." He was not taken out of context, either he lied or WP lied because I received my first email from his office about this over 2 weeks ago and This was settled then. We had meetings about lots of stupid crap but the most confusing one was the meeting in regards to the parental rights bill. Several liberals actually pretended to be confused about how it affects us. Since we don't deal with 5 year olds the only real impact is that if a parent asks what name the child goes by we must be honest with the parent unless we think abuse would be likely. If we think abuse is likely we must call DCF, all of which is actually not new. These rules turned into a 45 minute complaint session for 4 people, out of the 45 in room, one who actually said " I know what these kids need more than the parents". But by the time Obergefell was decided the die had already been cast as American politics shifted violently into a postmodern frame. Of course, there is also history. NAMBLA had a regular presence at pride parades until the early 90's, and the concept of "age of consent" was hotly debated within the gay politics community from its inception in the 60s and 70s. Much of the opposition to the concept of "man-boy love" came from women within the gay rights movement.
