stuvian
with the decline in fan attendance at games, it is becoming increasingly apparent that teams are piping in fake crowd noise. From my TV watching, the worst culprit looks to be the Arizona Cardinals. Half of the fans attending wear the opposing teams jersey. The crowd noise really looks artificial when half the fans are looking at their phones or are otherwise not engaged in the game. Are there other obvious culprits out there? I doubt that this is happening. It's not legal by NFL rule and teams have been fined and have lost draft picks for doing this.

They got a 5th round pick taken away 2 years ago. 3
BillsfaninChicago
They did this in London at Wembley when the Bills played the Jaguars. It was really annoying actually. There were mostly either Bills fans or just spectators, many of whom were just wearing random NFL gear but the stadium would pipe in fake crowd noise for the Jaguars since it was a “home” game. NoSaint
I’d argue hard to judge crowd noise in tv. Some well placed mics, or a shift in the mix by the station can sway the perception greatly
machine gun kelly
As the person mentioned about the Falcons, Arthur Blank had to pay a serious fine and yes they did lose a draft pick. This isn’t happening.
Playoff Bound
When the Broncos played the Chargers at the StubHub Center in Southern California it sounded like there were more Bronco fans than Charger fans. I guess the NFL got mixed up when they piped in the crown noise.
RoyBatty is alive
Indianapolis and Minnesota didnt exactly pump crowd noise in, but would they did do was amplify the crowd noise through their speakers
SoCal Deek
Went to the game in Houston a few years ago...and was shocked at how loud their sound system was when the Texans were on defense. Horrible experience, and completely unnecessary...especially when all we had at QB was EJ Manuel.

KD in CA
Stadiums may not do it, but I wouldn't be surprised if TV networks did it for the audio feed.

That would be my bet. Or uneven mixed on a mic. The same is said for when they get a parabolic mic to hear everything the QB says and here every hit. It makes for a good soap opera.
