I wouldn't put it past the Trumpster to use this to set up the most Epic Troll in the history of International politics

 

Part of the reason that the motorcade and Presidential chopper can't make it there safely is the size of the entourage makes it a public spectacle.  But if he engaged Special Forces to smuggle him in quietly he could show up near the end of the ceremony and say "Just like a 100 years ago America came here to finish this"

Given the President would need travel counting return trip 100 miles over roads those who he is under protection to protect him from danger could not possibly have time to find a assuredly safe route for him to travel.  It is obvious to any reasonable and fair minded person logistics made this not possible. Of course the optics are terrible and those looking for a way to demean the President have and will.

Trump was slated on Saturday to visit Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near the village of Belleau, France. It's the site of a 1918 battle in which the American and French repelled German forces. More than 1,800 Americans died there.


The battle looms large in the history of the U.S. Marines Corps. Trump was supposed to participate in a wreath-laying and a moment of silence at the site.

It has been raining in Paris all day and the weather prevented Trump from arriving via helicopter to the site, which is more than 50 miles east of the French capital.

White House chief of staff John Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general, his wife and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit instead.

  • It's not even 60 miles from central Paris to the monument. If the weather is too wet & windy for helicopters, a presidential motorcade could drive the distance in an hour.

Remember, there was no need for this trip at all. The president could have laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, then spoken a few appropriate words.

Obama did many things to make the shutdown more painful for citizens because he felt that ultimately the R's would pay the price. Did you know that a family who had lived in their house for decades in Lake Mead and leased the land from the federal government were evicted? He closed restaurants along federal land in the Appalachians. He never gave a damn about the average person.

and that there was probably a security/safety issue involved.

The Secret Service was unable to secure a motorcade route which was apparently around 100 miles there, and back, to their standards, on short notice, once the weather had eliminated helicopter transit as an option.

 

And they did their job well, considering that an actual assassination attempt on the life of President Macron was planned to happen during the event in question, and was thwarted by French authorities.

 

The Secret Service obviously would have been made aware of the situation, and made the decision that there was far too much uncertainty and risk involved given necessary alterations to travel plans.

Many people don't have a clue that logistics and organization of these events take place months in advance.

Trump wasn't there because USSS and the USMC pilots said Marine One wasn't going to be able to safely make the trip.

Perhaps you have the details of what the transit for Macron and Merkle looked like?  Were they scheduled to make a 100 mile round trip by unscheduled motorcade?  Perhaps you have the details of their security protocols and can contrast them with those of Secret Service when protecting the President?  Perhaps you can speak to how those protocols change under verified assassination plans on foreign soil?

 

Perhaps you can demonstrate that the President makes the decisions regarding his security, rather than the Secret Service?

 

What's that?  You can't, because you're just a puppet with a brain so addled by TDS that you have lost any and all objectivity or critical thinking skills?
