Hello From A Titans Fan -- Titans Come to Town

Recommended Posts

Prediction: McDermott says, should the Titans win, he can't comment on the game until after watching the game tape.

.....and if the Bills win, he never mentions a need to watch the game film.

Debrief, Week 4: Handing out 2018 NFL first-quarter awards

Best job by a coaching staff: Tennessee Titans.

Mike Vrabel's group has managed to win a game started by Blaine Gabbert with a heavy dosage of Derrick Henry running the wildcat and a cornerback named Dane Cruikshank finishing as their leading receiver. They won a game in Jacksonville without scoring a touchdown and beat the defending Super Bowl champions on Sunday after trailing 17-3 midway through the third quarter.

Sunday's victory should convince the rest of the AFC of Tennessee's upside. Finally healthy and looking comfortable in new coordinator Matt LaFleur's system, Marcus Mariotarecorded the second-highest graded game of his career on Sunday, according to Pro Football Focus, an assessment that sounds about right. On a day that saw Dion Lewis and Henry combine for 24 rushing yards, the Titans attacked Philadelphia's sneaky bad secondary all afternoon. Mariota threw for 344 yards despite at least four dropped passes. Mariota also led the team with 46 yards rushing, including a 17-yard run that set up the game's decisive moment in overtime.

Mariota was allowed to be the hero on Sunday because his coaching staff trusted him. Vrabel passed on a potential 49-yard field goal to tie the game in overtime in favor of going for it on fourth-and-2. Mariota rewarded that trust. It was the third fourth down Mariota picked up that drive, including a bullet on fourth-and-15 to Taywan Taylor. Veteran Rishard Matthews begging off the team last week could prove to be a blessing in disguise. Corey Davis looked every bit like a true No. 1 receiver on the way to 161 yards and the leaping, game-winning touchdown. Taylor needs to be a big part of the weekly game plan, too. The Titans' defense is undeniably playing tougher under Vrabel, led by stalwart defensive tackle Jurrell Casey. If Mariota can play anywhere close to this level moving forward, Tennessee is ready to become an AFC contender. Speaking of which ...

We at https://gotitans.com/ like to visit the forums of teams we play each week.

Here is how our season has gone this year:

  • We lost the game we were supposed to win then won the games we were supposed to lose
  • Major injury issues early in the year. Our top 4 offensive players (in order -- Delainie Walker, Taylor Lewan, Jack Conklin and Marcus Mariota) missed significant time. All but Walker are back and healthy now though
  • Run game has been trash
  • WRs pretty good though there have been some bad drops and the number 1 WR the previous 2 years up and quit on the team
  • Pass rush is strong, we were able to put a lot of pressure on Carson Wentz, even with their good OL.  Rookie Harold Landry is doing well rushing the passer
  • Secondary is hit and miss. We had another injury at SS. High priced FA Malcolm Butler has a habit of following up a big a big play by giving up a big play
  • Run defense could be better. First round rookie Rashaan Evans has barely played and missed all of TC
  • New coaching staff appears to be light years ahead of the old Mike Mularkey staff

My prediction is a defensive battle between the Bills and Titans. Which is how all our games have gone this year.

You guys have always done well against the Bills.  We only have 2 wins against the Titans since the Music City Miracle. The 2006 and 2012 losses really stand out as heartbreakers from my point of view.

Id wish you luck but I wanna win!

Barnwell's NFL quarter-season awards: Picks for MVP, best rookies

Bill Barnwell ESPN Staff Writer

Coach of the Year

First: Mike Vrabel, Tennessee Titans

The Titans have every excuse to be 0-4. Their Week 1 game against the Dolphins was interrupted twice by lightning storms. They lost Marcus Mariota and both of their starting tackles for Week 2 and then had to bring Mariota back even though he couldn't grip the ball effectively after Blaine Gabbert was concussed in Week 3. This week, they hosted the Super Bowl champion Eagles and let a possible game-winning touchdown slip through their hands in overtime when Darius Jennings dropped a perfectly thrown Mariota bomb.

Instead, the Titans keep answering the bell and manufacturing ways to win. After losing the opener, they parlayed a fake punt touchdown, a Wildcat drive with Derrick Henry at quarterback, and a tough defensive stop into a win over the Texans. They shut down Blake Bortles after a career day against the Patriots in Week 3 to win with a limited Mariota. On Sunday, they converted a fourth-and-15 and a fourth-and-2 in overtime, with Vrabel correctly passing up a 50-yard field goal to push for a victory. It might be tough to keep pulling out games this way, but Vrabel has his team fighting adversity and beating some tough football teams right now. The rookie coach deserves a ton of credit.

Well, all we know is that it will be a blowout. Not sure which team will get steam rolled (odds are it's Buffalo), but it will be bad.

Oh, and the first half will house all the points. The second half will not be worth watching.

Blitz Allen early and Often. He is having trouble reading it. Play Man against our WRs.

Depends what defense you are going to see. I expect the good defense being home but I expect Mariota to gash them with his legs.

I think the non-competitive trend ends this week in a closely contested game that comes down to the end.

I just want to score points this game is that too much to ask. We really played pretty good defense against the Packers and if we could muster some sort of Offense we could stay competitive.

This must be the plan in Buffalo, set the bar so low, that scoring any points at all = winning.
