Game in hand one way or the other and we want to get the rookie some reps, fine. Hail Mary situation and we need Allen's arm to get it there, fine.

I honestly think Allen is more athletic and mobile than he is being given credit for, but as someone said earlier, he is mobile compared to other QB's, Jackson is mobile compared to other football players. Expand Allen is quite athletic and quite mobile, and not just compared to other QBs. He is quick and shifty for his big size, and a fairly legitimate running threat, in a way that Peterman is not. Don't think we will see him on some gadget play, however. I just don't see that happening. 1

Of course, I guess that is true of most QB tandems. I guess I’m just trying to find a way to get Allen on the field.

They have different strengths and weaknesses. Maybe you bring Allen in for a Hail Mary if you haven't cross mid field. What else do you run with Allen but not Peterman without tipping your cards? The difference is JAckson can pass (arguably) and hes definitely a run threat. You can run option plays, designed QB runs, or let him execute the standard offense. Allen has decent mobility but no defense is scheming against his run game like Tyrod, Vick, Jackson.

Having said that. If we need a 70 yard hail mary at the end of a game, I would seriously hope the coaches put Allen in there. It's rare that a guy can throw it that far, and with respect to Peterman, Allen could probably get it to the endzone
