I like the morning show guys. I think they can be humorous and entertaining, at times. Scoop and the Bullfrog are borderline unlistenable, most of the time. I actually prefer when the second banana hosts by himself. 

 

But it’s a small radio market, people. If these guys were any good, they’d be hustled along to a bigger market.

They are horrible and outstandingly hypocritical. I listen - streaming - because where else are you going to go? 

 

Simon blew up on air before the draft saying that the Bills have to do everything they can to get a QB - then they do and now its overpaying. 

 

Schopp spent the first 45 minutes of yesterday's show talking about how they should talk about the draft - not about the picks - but about them and how they should talk about the draft.

 

Lapdog doubled down on the hypocrisy of wishing to do anything they to get a QB - then they do it - and now its overpaying...

 

And the worse - Dope watches the draft on TV - sees Mort say something about Pegs - and knowing no context whatsoever...instantly goes to the worse take ever - which is Tpegs made the pick for Mcbeane....Dope has no clue....

 

Meanwhile lapdog just sits there....

 

I hate myself for listening to them....

Yesterday was really hard to listen to. It was nothing but Josh Allen bashing non stop. I understand that they may not like the kid but damn. You had H&J crying that we mortgage the future by trading up to pick Allen, but yet If the pick was Rosen would they have had the same opinion? 

 

I tweeted how Schopp & The Bulldog was an entire show of nothing but Allen bashing and Bulldog tweets me back the "I wasnt listening correctly and he was saying the exact opposite". I had to contain myself from laughing out hysterically.

 

I like Sal Capaccio, he atleast feel like he's more in touch with the sport of football and the Buffalo Bills. I also like Nate Geary. Wouldnt mind WGR giving these guy their own show to replace those other idiots. 

 

Bulldog did oppose what Mike was saying but he was so scared to stand up to Mike you could barely tell.  That’s why I have a heard time listening.  His stance was weak, you could barely tell he felt differently.

I actually think we have it pretty good in buffalo, as others have said, other markets have it much worse. I agree they, Mike in particularly, can get quite prickly with callers, but the callers are so bad. As for Sal, I don't believe they're afraid to stand up to him, they have him on to report and get his opinion. It would be silly for them to  invite him and argue with him the whole time .

I was dragged to that event by a friend who thought it would be some drunken entertainment. Rome arrived at Pilot field in a white Bronco a la OJ and him and the "coach" who was I think wearing a moo moo (some XXXXXL Hawaiian shirt?) began to rip into Doug Flutie with their guest, an awkward Rob Johnson.  The whole spectacle revealed to me what dbags Dickerson and Rome were.  Dickerson as a radio host was entertaining and very opinionated but like most blowhards, he tried to cover his ignorance with a smoke screen of faux knowledge of the "playbook". Schopp is condescending but at least he tries to form a coherent argument with some evidence. Hard to believe that Schopp and the Coach actually hosted a show together for a year?

I spent time in the Austin Texas, and Louisville Kentucky Markets. I enjoyed both. To be fair, they did have a bigger variety of teams and topics to discuss.

One of the big problems with WGR (and has been forever when it comes to the Bills) is that they don’t know the game (outside of Sal). None of them played the game, grew up around football, coached it, etc... In other markets there is a balance of radio people and football people. New England has Zolak and Fauria, New York has Boomer, New Orleans has Bobby Hebert, etc.... I don’t count the John Murphy show either because they are Bills employees. They provide more insight but never question the franchise. We don’t have anyone educating the fan base (excluding Sal) because they aren’t educated. There are dozens and dozens of posters here that know the league and football better than WGR and their audience.

The chart is out of date, but regardless, in some circumstances, particularly at the top of the draft, when you're trying to acquire a franchise QB and everybody knows you're trying to acquire a franchise QB, along with another team or mor trying to acquire a franchise QB, overspending is pretty much inevitable.  Moreover, it is generally considered to be inevitable.  So, is it really overspending?

Then you’d know that WGR does a great job.  They have to put together 14 hours of programming in a small market, two sport town, every day all year round.  For the most part, it’s a great station.

I live in NC and listen via the WGR app ... the drive home with Schoop and Bulldog is difficult .. there is limited energy .. sounds like two old guys at a coffee shop .. .when Sal joins at least there is some energy.  Even the guy that comes on after Schoop and Bulldog has energy.   Now that the draft is over ... I'm likely back to music till training camp.

Mike Schopp: I disagree with many of his takes but he can be interesting to listen to. He has gone a little too far with analytics should make every decision and the no momentum in sports rants. Actually improved from a few years back when he would almost brag on radio about not being a fan of the Bills. That is until today when he got so upset that he seemed like he was going to root against the Bills for the Allen pick. 

 

-Mike used to be cool, hip funny like a young Letterman. Now he is a old, bitter, depressing, douche, Letterman

 

Murphy/Tasker: they get a bunch of good guests and Tasker is a little better than I thought he would be. I thought Ruben might have been a good replacement for Donald. Murphy tends to be a homer but that is his role and don’t mind it too much because most all the other shows are so negative. 

 

- I enjoy listening to them, like Donald as well and will miss him. Could do without Murphy pointing out Tasker having the day off every segment.

 

Sal: He is pretty good. I think Joe B was better but Sal is generally a voice of reason. 

 

-I really wish Joe B was still on. He should be way more prevalent in all Buffalo Sports. I dig Sal though

 

Ryan: don’t listen to that often but he seems funny and can be entertaining. 

 

- bring back Jim Brinson..

I don’t agree. I think they do a terrible job. I think they have uninteresting narratives that seem to be shared throughout the day of programming. I think Howard and Jeremy are two of the least knowledgeable sports personalities that I have listened to. Including some non sports entities.

 

I think Schopp is very rude to the callers and often times cuts off good points.  I think Jeremy says things to try and kiss up to Schopp. These guys all sat there for years saying nothing else matters (if you don’t have the QB).  Schopp often joked about how little of an impact any of these other non QB positions make on a game. Then he spent all week saying we shouldnt trade picks because we need to fill out the roster with those other positions. The guy really is an !@#$ and most of what he says is asinine. The guy was acting as if the draft is completely random and nobody knows who will be good. Yet he is the same person that has prompted tanking on more then one occasion.I think Sal is pretty good but I don’t really count him as an actual person on WGR. I just don’t agree that they do a good job.

The fact that Schoop, Bulldog, Simon & White have been with the station for a while now speaks volumes for their content.  None of them have any desire to move to bigger markets, and/or different jobs in broadcasting, and they clearly have tons of job security.  This is what leads to mediocre sports talk radio.
