Hughes will go next

I think Murphy will be our new RE and they will trade him , or try to, to move up again. I don't know who is interested, but he's still a very good DE IMO.

Question: Who might be that trade partner? How high would that get us?

I don't think we should trade Hughes personally.  He's still our best pass rusher, and after a quiet year last year, believe he can still get to double digit sack numbers...

However if he can be packaged into a combo to get us to #2, without having to give up both of our 2nd rounders and next years first, best of luck to you Mr Hughes...

No. For the billionth time, Hughes (and Lawson, for that matter) are 100% part of this team for 2018. DL is a huge point of emphasis for this team. They wouldn't go and deal out a nice contract for Lotulelei, who's primary role will be occupying multiple OL to free up the ends and LBs. They intend on making the DL one of the strongest units on the team. Trading away their best pass rusher makes zero sense when that's their plan. Having Murphy to rotate in there should be a good asset and more than likely a step up from Ryan Davis.

Hughes' contract isn't really a cap killer like Dareus' or Glenn's. If they wanted to clear more space they would've dealt Hughes long ago.

The point of getting Murphy was to take the focus off Hughes, who was the the only one who commanded attention in the pass rush. Murphy rushing from the left will free up Hughes, and we'll see that in his stats this year.

Giants at 2 need a DE...

There are going to run a 3-4 this year, that is part of the reason they traded Pierre-Paul.  Hughes is better suited in a 4-3 as well and the Giants I don't think would be interested.

He is a true 3-4 pass rushing end who also has the ability to drop into coverage. Hes actually undersized for a 4-3 but he has played well in both schemes. He was one of the top 3-4 ends coming out of college in the 2010 draft

Agreed, along with Star L to tie up the middle. The Bills felt QBs had too many escape routes up the middle in last years D .

I don't care about what he did in college.  At the NFL level he has been far more successful in a 4-3 scheme.  The Giants are drafting Chubb.  There is almost no chance they are interested in Hughes.
