Steptide
Obviously with Tyrod gone, we only have Peterman left. My guess is the bills will draft a qb high AND sign a vet qb Which makes me wonder, do they automatically start a high drafted rookie, start the vet as a bridge or have an all out qb competition? Personally, I hope they have a competition. While I want whoever they draft to be our long term future, I also want to play the best qb this year. What say you
Zebrastripes
Let them battle it out. May the best man win. If it's the rookie great if not don't throw him in there and potentially destroy his career. Edited March 11, 2018 by Zebrastripes
FearLess Price
Its def gonna be a competition. There will be no 'day one starters off the bus' type of bs. Let the best QB win! If we draft Rosen or Mayfield they will def win the starting job in camp.

I agree, but I also know how coaches are with high draft picks and could see whoever we draft being the starter, even if not fully ready. We know McDermott is thorough though
Bakin
Russell Wilson won his QB competition over Tarvaris Jackson and.. Deshawn Watson lost his to Tom Savage. Lets hope they evaluate it correctly either way.
Seanbillsfan2206
I think it’ll be like Chicago last year. Let the vet play a few games, once he throws a couple picks throw the rookie in. Sink or swim B word ”B word”? Really. That’s totally lame Edited March 11, 2018 by Seanbillsfan2206
ProcessTheTrust
Depends on who the bridge guy is. If it's Foles, they may just go forward with him as the intended day 1 starter, only allowing the rook to steal it if he has a Russell Wilson-like rookie preseason. Don't know enough about Daboll to really make any call yet. Edited March 11, 2018 by ProcessTheTrust

We know McDermott is thorough though No young qb is ever fully ready — if you believe a guy is worth going to the top ten he is immediately starter unless you made a mistake. If we stay put then it’s a competition with a slightly stacked deck (close and the rookie plays)

I feel like teams who do that are often really bad, like Chicago.
Steve Billieve
I think there's always a competition. Maybe some expectation bias comes into play occasionally, but the only time there's not a competition is when the winner is obvious.

I’m not a fan either. But any vet that comes here is going to want to start I’d think.
Lfod
I think you leave it open to a competition. Unless you pour a lot of funds into that vet QB. Don't spend big on a vet QB if you think he can't win a competition over Peterman and a Rookie.

Sign Cousins for $27 million or commit to someone like Keenum for more than one year and there won't be a competition. Anything less and I'd expect competition that's tilted against the rookie.
