If you look at the draft as a lottery, then why not buy more QB tickets and hedge your bets? My guess is it would be Jackson and Rudolph. Let them duke it out in camp? I'd rather trade up if that were going to be the strategy. Now taking a QB like Lamar at 21 and then following up with another QB later in the draft (like Lauletta, White, Litton, etc.)? That I could get on board with. With the number of needs this team has, I'm not sure how I feel about a trade up, but I definitely would not be on board with taking multiple QBs in the 1st round. A real good QB you keep as the franchise guy for 10+ years unlike other positions you can replace with a much easier move after the first contract. Who says Terry doesn't want to open the checkbook for Cousins so they can keep all the picks? To me that's the best move of all. You suddenly have your QB and now you also have a ton of draft capital to build your team. Anything but watching Tyrod throw for barely 100 yards a game. The Bills offense is just painful. I have to say, while I tend to lean more towards trading up for a rookie QB than signing Cousins, the idea of having QB "settled" with #21, #22, #53, #56, #95, #117, #149, and #157 does sound appealing. I prefer moving up for a cost-controlled rookie with franchise qb potential. If you hit, you are set for fifteen years. Of course, you may miss and Cousins' established floor is pretty good qb. So if you value a guy at top 5 at their position (I believe he means league wide, not in this draft), then you go get him no matter what it costs. Bleeding Bills Blue Posted January 25, 2018 Share Posted January 25, 2018 Well if the 2 that you value are the top 2, and they are gone before you can even trade for anyone... it doesn't make sense to trade for a guy you view as the 3rd best QB in the draft. If its true and 5 qb's go in the first like 15 picks (Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, Allen, and rudolph/jackson) - good players will be available at 21/22.
