However, this is the first I've ever heard of a scheme being referenced in regard to a GM. Pulling for Veach, resigned to the fact that it'll be a charade and Beane is the shoe in. Veach is a better fit cause he is use to scouting for a west coast offense. The mot important thing is having a HC and GM in synchrony with what they want the team to look like, and thus guide player selection. With Dennison as OC our new offensive scheme will be WCO based. This will need bigger WRs that can run precise routes and move the chains. Also it counts on multi threat RB (remember Ricky Watters with the 49ers?) and TEs that can catch and FBs that can block/catch. The only thing we might lack is a zone blocking offensive line. If it fails they both go fishing. They entrusted McD running the draft on his own, pushing back on his preferred GM wouldn't make any sense. I'd be fine with the combo it would eliminate the endless HC/GM drama and the move would fall in line with the power they have given the new coach. If you don't trust him to pick the GM then he shouldn't have been picking players either. A HC/GM that ACTUALLY work in lockstep would also put an end to any meddling by the owners and or Russ, for those who subscribe to that side of things. They have decent runners, though we are better with McCoy they have newton which offsets that. Their qb is inaccurate. Ours is, too. They have we depth problems behind their number one who struggled last year whilst ours was hurt. Their production on offense was up and down because of their qb play, just like ours. Their defense broke and let teams win, a lot. Their defense lost a few key players and crumbled, like ours. Their defense is built on a stout DL pressuring the front to let the backfield play ball, where they struggled in performance last year just like us. If any team closely resembles us, its Carolina. The only difference is they have Newton who will throw for 20-3 yards down field often enough to let people forget that he actually is not accurate, can't read a defense and most importantly and just like Taylor; runs under pressure Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Beane is an offense guy, played Quarterback in college and scouted QB and offensive skill positions his entire career until being assistant GM. You look at Carolinas offense and ours as it sits, quite different. If you look at the players Carolina has on offense. They like them BIG (Benjamin, Funchess, Olsen). They also like to let Cam sit back and sling it, we don't know if Taylor is capable of that. Dennison likes a lot of PA, boots, screens. With short yardage throws, probably occasionally taking a deep shot. I think we should stay away from Beane, If we want to go the current way on Offense. This analysis is completely wrong.
