TG on Whaley & McD sounds to be in charge update

Recommended Posts

Nix said he thought they could get RWilson a round later.

Sure he did.

It was the third round--a freebie. The Bills needed a QB. Wilson was a well-known quantity. Graham was a WR who admitted that "people say I can't catch". Buddy thought Graham was the obvious choice. Whaley should have told him to pick the far better and much more sorely needed player.

Why fire him or let him resign now and give up any information he has accumulated to other teams. FO contracts typically run through the draft so firing him next week would make perfect sense.

why doesnt he save his pride and resign then....
Bills front office is like the movie office space. Overdorf is milton

I can't see Whaley getting fired in between the draft and the season. Pegula would get blasted by the media, and rightfully. Makes no sense to give him the draft right before you fire him. Sounds like journalists stirring the pot to me.

Interesting comment from Sean McDermott, who uses word "I" when talking about decision not to trade down again from No. 27, before correcting himself and using "we." Lots of ongoing intrigue about how much power McDermott yields within draft room and how much GM Doug Whaley's voice matters.

Sean McDermott felt he had trust with Andy Reid. Made communication of trade easier.

Hmmm whos running the draft?

Is white a part of the 53?

Asked about Doug Whaley's job security, Sean McDermott said he's "100 percent focused on the draft" and what's in front of him

Wow, this was different. One trade down and two trade ups. We got three top 2 round players that fill needs and still have 3 players for depth tomorrow.

This sure beats Jauron doing nothing and reaching for mid round picks in the first and second round, It also beats trading up a kings ransom for a good but not great player.

Nobody knows exactly how three picks will work out but they just turned 6 meh picks a month ago into this result plus a first rounder next year. Nobody can knock the strategy.

So... something is up with the Bills both trade ups right in front of Carolina. And both times, the same position was selected. They knew who Carolina was taking and had the scouting info?

Ha! I'm sure McDermott had a good idea.

That's funny.

Reading between the lines, it's pretty clear that McDermott did not really trust our scouting department. White is a consensus solid but not spectacular player. Zay Jones college coach is now our WR coach. And it seems that we had some inside info on Carolina with Dawkins.

Other than the trade back to pick up a first next year, they've been pretty much targeting specific guys and haven't been shy about trading picks in this year's draft.

Pretty damming for the scouting department IMO
