No, but the GOP can do better than Donald freaking Trump....

Funny how some of you still think the GOP wanted Trump.

The difference between the GOP and the DNC is the DNC forced Hillary on the left with super delegates. The people forced Trump on the right.

The GOP hated getting Trump, and even after he won the nomination, there was a HUGE GOP contingency against him (#nevertrump ring a bell?)...much like there was a HUGE DNC contingency against Hillary. Again, the difference is the DNC forced Hillary.

Stunning that people still don't understand this.

Come on now, be fair.  She paid good money for that nomination!

It's just as funny how many people either don't know, or conveniently forget, that nearly none of the Republicans here supported Trump at all. The support he gets from non-libs here comes strictly from a pleasant surprise in job performance and results on his part, not some kind of blind loyalty.

The threads are all there around 15-20 pages back should anyone care to see for themselves.

* In fact, I invite all the people who come here calling people "Trumptards" to go see for themselves. There are a lot of people posting here that weren't around back then, so they just don't know. Here's an opportunity for a learning experience.

Buftex - I call you out specifically because you are well aware of this yet you jump into random threads echoing the "Trumptard" label yourself. You used to be more honest than this, but now you're just joining an emotional pile-on.

Oh I understand what happened.....just don't like it.....I want a Republican President that doesn't act like a petulant child....he really does remind me of Rex Ryan....it's all about him......some of his statements are beyond laughable......there's a weird new " normal " with Trump....

It's amazing how so few of us wanted Trump in the primary but how many of us voted for Trump against Hillary. As much as many of us don't like Trump's personality I think that there are many who like him as president. With all that's working against him he's done a superb job. Reagan lacked the narcissism of Trump but putting that aside they have a lot of the same qualities.

Electorally speaking, Trump was elected by a lot of former Obama voters in the key states.  Democrats.  Democrats who wouldn't vote for Hillary.  They pushed him over the finish line.

What does that have to do with the economy, foreign policy and immigration enforcement?

Good post......I'm having a hard time dealing with the narcissism.....but his performance is better than expected....I wish he would go about it differently...

Get over it. Tell the posters that you can't stand Trump, let them pronounce that Kamala Harris has a 5 point lead then vote for him as he wins by 10%.

You characterize Trump as a Rex Ryan type. I've always thought of him as "The Coach" (Chuck Dickerson). A really reasonable and affable person until the cameras appeared. I think Trump makes his sober decisions in private and then turns on his Apprentice persona for the cameras. In the big picture his public persona doesn't mean jackshit. If you like the results, learn to tolerate the person.

But the narcissism is the best part.

Think about it. Did you not just spend eight years with the single most narcissistic president in recent history?  Obama was the first to take credit for good and the first to cast blame for bad. It didn't matter if it was National Donut Day, Barry would post a picture of himself next to a donut.

People criticized him for his narcissism, and the left pushed back.

Now they're crapping purple Twinkies every freaking day, and if someone in the WH is going to be a narcissist, how great is it that he is keeping alive the single greatest political meltdown ever. It's been over a year and they STILL can't stop peeing their pants.

It's glorious. People like Buftex can't help themselves because they literally have nowhere to go but straight to "You're all a bunch of Trumptards!"

Trump is a narcissistic pig. But let the pig do his work and enjoy the meltdown.

And you keep missing the forest for the trees.

The most apt and often-repeated description of how many of us feel is that we cringe at things that Trump says but have approved of the things he's done.   The polar opposite of his predecessor.

Exactly.

I am not a fan of Trump the man,  he spouts off without thinking way too much for someone in his office.

I am however, very pleased with having someone from outside Washington in there, pointing out that "what is commonly accepted" is not often what is best for Americans.

and continually pointing out the "elites" hypocrisy..

That being said, I have also reached my limit with the Media/Left.

I am done being called a whatever-ist  by the identity group of the day.

My give a damn has hit zero.......................

Hey, Trump just declared North Korea is no longer a nuclear threat and the Trumptards are going wild.

I suppose the same formula will work on Iran.

The Trump University strategy, Got him elected, might as well just keep going with it

I know it's tough, Gator. If this whole world peace thing works out you'll have to find new ways to amuse yourself other than the sight of dead American soldiers, or Ambassadors, or dead school children, or administration members who have heart attacks...

Well, I guess the last one wouldn't be solved by peace, so you got that going for you.

But keep rooting against peace. It's a great look and lets everyone know exactly how deep your compassion runs.

Whole world peace? Ok!!

Has Trump tweeted that, too? Because if he did, you would believe it

1. DPRK = stability in South East Asia

2. Iran = stability in the ME, end to conflict in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and parts of Africa while opening the door to REAL talks between Palestine and Israel.

3. Pakistan / Israel come next.

Newsflash! Trump accomplished nothing there. I mean wow, talk about Mission Accomplished.

Obama could have cured cancer and you guys would scream it cost too much. Trump struts around with the leader of the worst country since Hitler's Germany (arguably) and you guys are declaring he's saved the world. What a joke

Tell that to the 300+ Russian mercenaries who got slaughtered just a month or two ago. Or to the three hostages now free from the DPRK. Or to Putin's oligarch pals who are under some of the most targeted and crippling sanctions ever doled out on an individual level. Or to the people of Iran who are entering in their seventh month of protesting a regime and are receiving open support from the United States.

No one is standing up "to our friends", but someone is standing up for us.

It's perfectly reasonable to question the negotiating tactics being employed by this administration, don't misunderstand me. It's just completely inaccurate to suggest (or outright state) that US policy has somehow gotten easier on our enemies.

As I mentioned earlier, I get it...I don't think I'm missing anything....I do think however that it's possible to have a President that brings results without being look upon as a punch line....it'd be great for Trump to stop with the " Kim Jong Un  loves his people " type of declarations....We are allowed to want both results and non idiotic statements .....

It is tough to find any decent candidate who isn't completely put off by the daily probe/grind that is fifteen months of presidential electioneering. What "normal" competent person wants to put up with that? The way things were going in DC since Bush beat Gore - if I had to trade one for the other I would trade upheaval and results over a politically correct career politician with results.   Hopefully things normalize after Trump is done. But at least he's shown that (in his weird and off-putting way) you don't need a Prsident who isn't afraid to change the regular m.o. And it has been pointed out a lot around here that the side benefit is a return to checks and balances.

We are allowed to want & should want both.

But given only 1 or the other, results please.

Who would be able to do it?

What candidate would you suggest? Was there another loose American billionaire willing to finance his own campaign against the billion the Clinton Machine had? And one that would be willing to drag his family through the constant barrage of attacks from the media, the Swamp, and their misguided progressive sheep-on-the-streets?

The thick skinned boorish douchebag that is Trump, is the only guy that could and would, and you should be !@#$ing thankful he did.

It's been a small price to pay.

I strongly suspect that the reason he is as successful as he has been is due in part to those idiotic statements that routinely fly from his twitter account. He has so many people flipping out over the things he tweets and that he says on camera that his opponents do little more than lose their %$#%ing minds. Think about it - who has managed to mount an effective counter to anything he's done? It can be argued that congressional republicans have been as big a hindrance as the democrats, if not more so.

I've seen no real organization in any so-called resistance movement. Vagina suits? Kittie hats? Screaming uselessly at the sky? Gatorman?

No, I believe the fact that he doesn't act like a typical statesman and instead more like a self-centered loose cannon has helped him more than it's hurt.

It's hilarious. He keeps feeding them enough shitthat triggers them that they just go from one triggered point to another. If he has what most of us would consider a faux pas he just comes up with something else to change the conversation. To think, I've got to stock up on another 6 1/2 years of popcorn.
