Practice Squad: When? & Who?

I think Grant was a 4th rd pick in 2014 for Steelers. Funny how ours was Ross Cockrell... We swapped CBs.

Stop weirding me out, dude.

So #Steelers get #Bills 4th rd CB Ross Cockrell starting and Buffalo gets their 4th rd CB Grant to PS.

Not sure if this article is completely right - Jordan was on regular game roster 34 of 36 games,
Who is eligible for a spot on the practice squad?
  • Each team can keep 10 players on its practice squad
  • Up to four of those 10 players can have two accrued NFL seasons. So, was a player on the 53-man roster for at least six games of two NFL seasons? Sorry, they’re out of luck.
  • It used to be that three weeks of an NFL season spent on a practice squad counted as one full season of practice squad eligibility. Now, that number has been increased to six weeks, which expands some players’ eligibility.
  • A player can spend no more than three seasons on any practice squad.

One might counter with the argument such as: "Deep talented teams are less likely to attract these free agents to their PS, as there isn't much of a chance of them being called up. So perhaps this is a sign the Bills are deeper in talent than they have been in the past." But c'mon, we know that's not true.

That is unpossible.

So Bills are better at picking but Steelers are better at evaluating?

Indubitably. ISFDWTT.

That video is impressive. If he can make plays like that at this level they may have something.

Not always easy making the transition from D2 to the NFL. Fields is 25 now, hopefully he's had his learning curve in Washington and can impress. I remember talking to Emory about him prior to the 2014 draft, both of us utterly enamoured with the guy. Really special instincts, decent athletic profile. Punishing hitter. He's the prototype.

Fields had 29 pass breakups in 3 years as a starter as Winston-Salem.

Zimmer may have had some talent but he lacks prototypical NFL size and it showed on the tape pre-season. That one long run the Giants had really stands out. He was totally swallowed up on that play and moved easily by his blocker.

Honestly, I think he's wasted in any scheme that'll ask him to 2-gap. He's like Lavar Edwards, gap-penetrating straight ahead kind of player.

I'd love him in any 4-man front playing 3-Tech, especially in sub packages. If he can evolve beyond that, brilliant.

Bills Go Heavy at CB with Practice Squad
With the signing of CB Marcus Roberson and CB Damian Parms, in addition to LB Carlos Fields Tuesday, Buffalo has just one vacancy left on their 10-man practice squad. Position-wise however, it’s clear that cornerback was a priority. Here’s a look at the position breakdown for Buffalo’s practice squad.

Bills practice squad now at max of 10

The Bills finally have their practice squad completely filled, but it did not come without some shuffling.

Buffalo signed TE Gerald Christian and DT Deandre Coleman to the team’s practice squad Wednesday, but had to move CB Damian Parms off to make room for one of them.

So the practice squad looks like this as of today.

TE Gerald Christian

DT DeAndre Coleman

LB Carlos Fields

K Jordan Gay

CB Doran Grant

WR Matt Hazel

G Gabe Ikard

WR Dezmin Lewis

CB Marcus Roberson

DE Max Valles

So how did Gabe Ikard look during preseason, anyone? A couple weeks after the Bills cut him loose last December, the Lions picked him up and kept him through the final cutdown.

While we're at it: Matt Hazel, from the Dolphins. Anyone got anything?
