If the rumors are true and that the big winners are players from each opposing site, then I have a lawsuit waiting to happen. Regulation and oversight is needed to protect the consumer, but that all. It's not gambling in the true sense of the word, and it is up to the state to prove it is. I play seriously and put a lot of effort into my picks each week, matchups, weather, trends and so on.. Then what's with the NY lottery and the dumb scratch off tickets I get from relatives on my birthday? How about OTB and casinos? Makes no sense. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. You go into a soccer stadium and every major club has a "betting partner" firm in the stadium taking bets on the game, you watch a major soccer game on TV and every other advert at half time is for a sports betting firm. It hasn't caused the breakdwon of society as we know it or led to major deprivation..... Why is it so frowned on in America? Or do I not even want to know.....? Maybe because people will literally murder each other over futbol? The threat of being murdered for being caught fixing contests is probably something of a disincentive. Americans don't kill each other for that kind of offense. They just stop buying the product if they think it's fixed......which puts the emphasis on the owners to prevent it. Not really a bad system. Trading on insider information (sharks) to swallow the pilot fish (everyday Joe Fantasy fan) whole. They're also to be despised because they have taken over Sunday morning pre-game NFL TV on all 5 networks, and just about every radio broadcast. They're as bad as the online poker site scammers who still haven't paid back the money they stole. When you allow employees to play and win money on your site, it's a surefire formula for cheating and stealing. Did we learn nothing from Ultimate Bet? Because it is a non-stop game there are really too many variables. Cricket has suffered much more because it is - more akin to football I suppose - a game where there are set starting formations etc so it easier to spot fix one particular outcome for one moment of the game. If you want gambling to be legal, work within the system to legalize gambling. Until then, they are gambling, which is illegal. I do believe that all NFL owners, employees (including refs, players, coaches) should be banned from having an interest in Football gambling. The temptation and the risk is too great. I read where the two companies in question make more than the NFL does per week during the season. They are gambling according to whom? Is season-long fantasy gambling? How about when CBS, espn, yahoo, etc allow you to join a fantasy league halfway through the season, so it's no longer 'season-long'; is that gambling? Is cricket very comparable to soccer in popularity and revenues/salaries? Personally, I think the daily fantasy sports are a pretty good way to allow betting without significant risk to affecting the outcome of games........but their advertisements are annoying and very, very misleading......which doesn't seem right considering how hard they blanket tv and the internet with their ads. Fans attack other teams' fans every week and while I can't recall murders off the top of my head, some horrible stuff leaving people permanently injured have occurred. If I really like my lineup I'll go $10 double-ups. It's not gonna put me in bankruptcy or pay off my house, it just makes it more fun to watch games you otherwise wouldn't care much about... especially NHL which I like watching anyway. DraftKings lost but my FanDuel account has $45 so I'm $5 up on the year. I really enjoy picking a line up and playing new teams each week. My NFL.com Fantasy leagues are great, but playing a few bucks with a chance to win 20k or 50k is exciting. I love it and see this as a skill game and challenge. I think the states are just jealous that so much revenue is being made without them getting their cut, so they are trying to shut it down and figure out a way to cash in.
