When Rex came in I expected them to pursue a NT and was surprised they passed on a guy like Terrence Knighton. NT is a devalued position right now so those guys are bargains. I think a huge influx of athletic DT's in recent drafts has changed the way a lot of teams play their fronts and they aren't using NT's to free up linebackers at as many places any longer. He hasn't played NT in regular season recently because he has been in penetrating 4-3 fronts but he is a good fit there. Looked real effective versus Steeler reserves and I expect he could allow Dareus to be moved wider and avoid double teams on early downs in wider set 3-4 type looks. Rubes
What # is he? I remember seeing a lot of Corbin Bryant in that game, seemed like he was playing like a man. I don't recall paying much attention to the other Bryant, though.

LeGOATski
I think because he's old and the right teams weren't calling. He said he was contemplating retirement, but then Buffalo called. Seems to me that he wanted to be in a specific system. Who doesn't want to play defense for Rex Ryan?

Fixxxer
Can't say I noticed him, glad he's looking good. Similar case to Alan Branch, talented big guy than can dominate at times but lazy enough to not being able to stick with a team for a long period of time. Doc
Alan Branch has been a lazy POS since he entered the league. He was considered a stud but was a dud because he never put in the full effort.
Tyrod's Tailor
Im eternally grateful for Mr. Wilson, of course. But still, it is so great to see a team willing to invest in quality depth to replace injured players.

He was considered a stud but was a dud because he never put in the full effort. Yes, a well known slacker. But some of these guys, as they get a bit older and lose a step/bit of strength, get a bit more serious about the game. Especially in the right team atmosphere. Im eternally grateful for Mr. Wilson, of course. But still, it is so great to see a team willing to invest in quality depth to replace injured players. Ralph proved he would spend the $, if he really trusted his GM/HC and the team was good enough to go far. He seemed less willing to spend when those conditions didn't present themselves, IMO. BADOLBILZ
Is he know to be lazy, or are you just guessing. Truthfully I do not know his rep. Yes, Branch should have been a perennial pro-bowl player. Early on at Michigan he was considered a potential future #1 overall draft pick. Just a freak talent to be that big and quick with arms that long. It was a shame for Buffalo that he got that DWI and forced their hand because he is a good, inexpensive player for our top rival now. I don't know that we have ever seen a player give less effort in the preseason as Branch.......and then he immediately he looks like a different player in-season. Branch is much more talented than Red Bryant, who is really limited to moving up and down the LOS. Red Bryant is very good at that though and quick to disengage and make a tackle which is why he has long been one of the better run defending DL in the league. djp14150
On Red Bryant... He was drafted by Seattle and was a very good player on the team, after his rookie contract he got a decent contract. He was well liked by the fans. After Seattle won the Super Bowl he became a cap casualty because Seattle had a bunch of other key players to resign. They had very good DL depth just like what buffalo has. Choices had to be made. He went to Jacksonville and followed his DC who became the Jacksonville head coach. Thus off season with Jacksonville making free agency moves on the DL he again became a cap casualty. He is very good run stuffer. Not much of a pass rusher. On obvious passing downs he'd get replaced by a pass rusher.

timtebow15
Great pickup. We need insurance for Darrius. Who knows when he'll do something, shall we say, not too smart. Plus it will keep him and maybe Kyle fresher by taking care of some of the running downs.
