Kiko or Shady? Go on record

Kiko or Shady

  1. 1. Which player would you rather have in a Bills' uniform?

It's not often you can get one of the best running backs in the league straight up for a 2nd round pick who played only one year in the league.

I get the age thing, but McCoy is only 2 years older than Alonso, and at 26 he still has 3-4 good years left in him. Who knows with 2 serious knee injuries in the last 5 seasons how many Kiko has.

He isn't injury prone like Murray or carry the backage that Adrian Peterson does, both of which put up similar numbers, but haven't been as productive as McCoy over the last 5 years.

This deal is growing on me. I think once FA and draft dust settles, Buffalo's offense will have a new identity that will ease the minds of Bills fans as well as Rex Ryan

I really liked Kiko and wanted to see what Rex would cook up for him. But this roster and team is much better IMO with Shady on the roster than with Kiko.

Also, as said in another thread, if Kiko hits, the Bills still have a great defense and suspect offense. If Shady hits, the Bills still have a great defense and likely have a good offense, too.

Look, 1/3 of Bills fans are crazy. This poll must be broken. I thought that percentage would be much higher. hehehe.
I'm not surprised at the response. I loved watching Kiko with my boys, even those Campbell's Soup spots. Like most legends, they are gone before you know it.

I'm optimistic about Shady because he has shown good durability and Rex/Roman have shown an ability to coach an "older" back (See, LT and 2014 Gore).

I assume I should give the FO the benefit of the doubt, but right now it doesn't make sense to me. I think McCoy could add more this year, but he also brings a huge cap hit and a shorter career span.

His cap number is under 10 million, but stands to be renegotiated over the next few months. It drops to 7 and then 6 (and change) in the final two years of his deal. The cap situation isn't really impacted by his contract, not in terms of the long term deals the Bills need to get done (Dareus, Gilmore being the top two in my book) nor does it prohibit them from keeping Hughes and still being players in the upcoming feeding frenzy of UFA.

If the cap number is your biggest source of doubt about the trade, I think you'll come around pretty quickly once all the numbers are solidified.

It's confusing too because McCoy isn't really a power runner.

But he's an in between the tackle specialist. It's how he got the name Shady. He literally ghosts people in the hole in ways no other back in the league can. He's not a traditional power guy, but he makes his money in between the tackles.

I'm absolutely torn on this. I voted Kiko but know I will end up liking Shady on this team. Who knows? Spiller was probably looking to get paid what Shady is gonna get. Bottom line: the only way this is bad is if Shady flops and Kiko flips.

Yup. Week 1 we are better with McCoy. But for the next 16, 32, 48 games (ie end of their contracts)? I have to think kiko plus 25m in spending would come out ahead. Edited by NoSaint

That does make me feel a lot better about it.

the comparison is skewed. the issue with shady is that you can get guys out there who will be pretty productive at RB still.

how about this?

would you rather have clay matthews + justin forsett, or demarco murray?

In this example

McCoy(10) and spikes(4) or kiko(1), boling(5), spiller(4) (or some other vet) and searcy(4)
